Lookahead: Agentic Apps
Earlier this year, I had the chance to attend an in-person Oracle training in Austin, Texas focused on AI agentic applications. It was one of those sessions where you could feel the shift happening in real time. Agentic Apps can really change the way organizations run.
If you’ve spent time working in Oracle Fusion, especially across Financials, Supply Chain, or HCM, you already know how structured and process-driven everything is. Agentic apps will drive insights and actions on top of these processes.
This post is less about definitions and more about what actually matters: practical use cases and why this is exciting for anyone working in the Oracle space.
So what actually changes with agentic apps
The best way to think about agentic applications is that they are not just assistants. They are systems that can reason, decide, and act toward a goal using enterprise data and workflows.
Instead of asking a question and getting an answer, you define an outcome, and the system works with you to achieve it.
For example, if we take the idea of Invoice holds, the flow traditionally looks like:
Invoice Entered -> Hold Placed -> Hold Reviewed -> Hold Released -> Invoice Approved & Ready to Pay -> Payment Flow.
AI Agents alone may be able to help review holds, review invoices entered, maybe one or two steps of the flow. But Agentic Apps can review the whole flow and make decisions based on real time information.Oracle is moving from systems of record to systems that actively drive outcomes, which is a major shift for enterprise software.
Why this felt different in the Austin training
Being in the Austin training made this more real than reading release notes or documentation.
The focus wasn’t on UI or configuration steps (though I will say the new UI looks a lot better). It was on how agentic workflows are designed. The sessions showed how workflows are no longer just sequences of tasks, but intelligent flows where agents can coordinate, make decisions, and move work forward automatically.
That is where the excitement really comes from. You are not just configuring processes anymore. You are designing behavior.
What do Agentic Apps Look Like?
To access them, you look in AI Agent Studio. You’ll see a new tab saying “Apps.”

Exhibit 1
When you click into an Agentic App, it launches a new UI. It looks quite pretty. Here, I’m going to open the “Sourcing Command Center” which is seeded.

Exhibit 2
Here, you see what it looks like… a dashboard? Yes, it looks like a dashboard; however, it’s more than that. In these apps, you can configure actions.
Actions are what make this scalable
What stood out in the training is the actions that can be configured… you can do anything. If I want, I can configure one of the bubbles from Exhibit 2 to do something. I can make a simple action like a hyperlink to review the negotiation. Or, I could trigger a workflow agent to help me with a task.
When agents/workflows are triggered from apps, what’s special is that the context is passed along. So Agentic Apps are passing context to AI Agents. It’s not like using AI Agents before where you’d have to prompt for them to have all the information needed before completing a task.
Why this is exciting going forward
The biggest shift here is not automation. We have had automation for years.
The shift is toward systems that:
- Understand intent
- Maintain context
- Take action
Agentic apps don’t just assist users. They act as participants in the process.
That means:
- Fewer clicks
- Less navigation
- More focus on exceptions instead of routine work
And from a consulting perspective, it changes the conversation entirely. Instead of just implementing workflows, we will start designing outcomes.
Final thoughts
Leaving the training in Austin, the main takeaway for me was this:
Oracle is not just adding AI features into Fusion. They are changing the way work gets done inside the platform.
Agentic apps are still early and there will be a learning curve, but the direction is clear. We are moving toward systems that actively drive business processes instead of just supporting them.
And if you are working in Oracle Fusion today, whether in Financials, SCM, or HCM, your future is tied to AI Agentic Apps.
