THE COSMIC CROSS: The Law of Attraction, Free Will, and AI

There must be a way of living that corresponds to reality, a how-to-living-right secret, so that man will not continually have the sensation of being off by one notch or of pursuing a road which, however pleasant it might seem, is not really his.

In His book The Way of Man, Martin Buber writes:

“In the coming world, they will not ask me: ‘Why were you not Moses?’ They will ask me: ‘Why were you not [you]?”

Yet, while man systematically acts to regret it, and even anticipates having to live with knowing that he could do better, be better, what does that “better” mean actually? “Better” compared to what, to when, to whom?

If the major problem man has to grapple with is indecision as to the correct action to take; doubt as to the outcome to expect, or the fear of one’s own shadow, is AI really the best one can hope for and what Man has been waiting for since creation to cope with such psychological double-mindedness? Hoping to have some real-time search engine implant perfectly adapted to one’s flawed character in a collective setting? This mark against which neither the Vedas nor the Quran warn us, only the Bible (Revelation 13:18)? The definitive, irreversible loss of our “free will” and identity?

Some may contend that we never did enjoy “free will” per se.

We do though, because it is precisely in this mechanical imperfection of ours that our bio-spiritual identity manifests itself:

[The Lord] said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9–10

In fact, it is thanks to the advent of AI that we can see so clearly now how important it is to recognize that Man is indeed as much a biological being as a spiritual one. The machine we implant to humans will never function on blood, even if it does run on electricity — or solar energy.

God insists: He sent His Son to save mankind (John 3:16); He incarnated into a simple mortal to enable us to enter His immortality. His Son died of a carnal death; he shed his blood, and the Bible writes about it at length to dress a poignant picture that speaks of Man’s humanity to humans.

In one instant, at the cross, all the suffering of all of mankind could dissolve forever in Christ’s last breath if only all humans on earth could have witnessed it at the same historical moment — not only temporally but at the level of their inner being, their internal transgenerational biological clock and experience katharsis. This is why, today, we must still wait for one another whilst suffering continues.

Nonetheless, due to the non-temporality of Space-Time which contains us and which we are contributing and subject to at the same time, we live while expiating our faults — or sins, by assuming our weakness and transcending the law of causality, each at their own pace.

a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. […] the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. […] Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin. […] sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace. Galatians 2:16; 3:24; Romans 3:20; Romans 6:14

For one must not imagine that a God who is truly God may be behind schedule concerning our material, physical, human achievements.

The Lord does not delay and is not tardy or slow about what He promises, according to some people’s conception of slowness, but He is long-suffering (extraordinarily patient) toward you, not desiring that any should perish, but that all should turn to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 AMPC

This means that, at the cross, everything that is written on the fabric of our existence has been updated relative to forgiveness, i.e., redeemed. This is why today we may live by faith according to all that is going on behind the scene in the universe, not against us but for us:

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31

Jesus says that “No one can come to [him] unless the Father who sent [him] draws them”. This verse 44 of John 6 goes on saying: “and I will raise them up at the last day”, referring to the resurrection. The Bible also tells us that

“if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who lives in you.” Romans 8:11

Through Jesus Christ who sent us his Spirit from the Father’s throne (John 14:7,16–17; Acts:4:5), God’s very force of attraction was placed in Man. Therefore, by the power of the Holy Spirit the believer has the ability to exert his free will regarding the control of sin — error of judgment — , based on universal perfection, i.e., God’s law of holiness.
