Fallen Words

Revisiting my old writing

As Fall fills the air with a crisp breeze, My Creativity becomes a barren tree, My mind has bled a brilliant red, Thoughts drifted slowly to the ground. The words built up with ease Creating a prickly pile to explore.

I dive into the dead words, Throw random phrases around, Watch as they twirl in the autumn air, A child leaping without care. Orange, red, and brown shimmer And rustle under the depressed sun.

Gone are the days of blooming flowers, Of searching for the rose of my mind, No, I think now is the time, To see what butterflies lie In this decaying Heap of words.

May you find beauty and joy in the pile of unpublished words this fall.

This poem was inspired by ADEOLA SHEEHY-ADEKALE’s prompt: https://medium.com/promptly-written/the-promptly-written-monthly-theme-for-september-2023-209ee7308480
