Half a Year at Apple: Reflections from the Inside

I still remember the first day I walked into my dream company. Since then, it has been nothing short of a roller-coaster. Working with some incredible people on real, cutting-edge technology has been both fun and a little crazy in the best way possible. Every day has brought something new to learn, new problems to solve, and fresh challenges to take on. Honestly, I don’t think I learned this much in the last 4–5 years of my career as I have in just these 6 months at Apple.

Before this, I worked at a few MNCs and never really got to experience that fast-paced, dynamic start-up vibe. I hoped Apple would offer something close, and now after spending half a year here, I can confidently say my wish came true — I get the energy of a start-up while being part of a big tech company.

As I hit the 6-month mark, I wanted to pause and look back at my journey so far. Here are a few things that stood out and might give you a glimpse of what it’s like to work at a place like Apple:

A truly hands-on environment Very different from traditional MNC setups where even installing software needs multiple approvals. Here, every single day is about building and delivering meaningful work.

Supportive and friendly culture The people I work with are honestly the highlight of my experience. Their thought process and clarity are inspiring. I’ve learned so much from the way they approach problems, and our brainstorming sessions have helped me sharpen my own thinking and broaden my perspective.

No top-down hierarchy One of the coolest things is seeing how developers are expected to bring ideas — even initiate projects. You’re not just ticking off instructions; you actually get to influence how the system can improve.

Leadership at every level This ties in with the previous point. Even at junior levels, you’re encouraged to drive projects. You’re trusted with decisions that help you grow, take ownership, and develop leadership skills early on.

Fast-paced execution and delivery The speed here is something else. You deliver results every day, and that pace pushes you to pick up new skills quickly. I’ve learned so much simply because the environment moves fast.

Cutting-edge technologies This one is obvious, but still worth calling out. We work with the latest tools and tech, which means staying updated with what’s happening in the industry. Even if you haven’t used something before, you learn it as you go.

You are heard This matters a lot. In such a high-energy environment, things can get overwhelming in the beginning. I felt a bit of imposter syndrome early on, but over time the support I received made me feel comfortable and valued. Knowing your voice matters here is a big deal.

What’s next? I’m genuinely excited to see what the coming months and years have in store and how the journey unfolds from here.
