Interstitial lung disease (ILD) encompasses a diverse group of over 200 lung disorders that cause progressive scarring of lung tissue. This scarring can lead to stiffness in the lungs, making it difficult to breathe and get enough oxygen into the bloodstream. Understanding Interstitial Lung Disease ILD affects the interstitium, the network of tissue that supports the air sacs in the lungs.
