China-Pakistan Agricultural Investment Conference (VII) | Jinan Animal Husbandry Association visited UVAS University in Pakistan to exchange talents training and technical innovation cooperation

On the afternoon of January 22, Li Yanqin, Secretary-General of the Jinan Livestock Association, Dean of the Livestock Industry Craftsmen’s College, Under-Secretary-General Zhang Feifei and a group of others, accompanied by Prince Hai, Honorary Investment Counsellor of Pakistan, went to the University of Veterinary Medicine and Zoological Sciences in Lahore, Pakistan ( University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, UVAS) research exchange. Prof Dr Muhammad Younus, Principal of UVAS, with the core management team of UVAS and the heads of relevant faculties warmly received the reception.

As one of the earliest veterinary higher education institutions in Asia， Since its establishment as a veterinary school in 1882, it has developed over the past hundred years and was officially upgraded to a public research university in 2002. Today, it has grown into a leading institution in the field of animal husbandry and veterinary medicine in Pakistan, ranking first in veterinary medicine, animal science, food and life sciences.The school has the first ISO 17025 certified veterinary disease diagnostic laboratory in Pakistan, whose test results are recognized by the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation （ ILAC ）。 They mutually recognize that they have a strong technological reserve in animal disease prevention and control, vaccine research and development, and microbial technology applications.At the same time, it has built a complete discipline system covering fisheries, wildlife protection and biodiversity, and has maintained close cooperation with many well-known universities and research institutions around the world.

During the colloquium, the two sides held in-depth discussions on the core needs of animal husbandry talent development. Prof Dr Muhammad Younus The principal detailed the talent training model and curriculum setting of UWAS, stressing that the school always pays close attention to the deep integration of theoretical teaching and industrial practice, and cultivates talents that can quickly adapt to the needs of the livestock industry. The Jinan Municipal Animal Husbandry Association took into account the realities of the local animal husbandry industry development, and presented the practical experience of Jinan in the cultivation of animal husbandr talents — relying on the Institute of Animal Husbandries Industry Craftsmen, it built a cultivation model that is “enterprise demand oriented, skill module driven, and integration between industry, research, and use.”

UVAS has accumulated systematic talent training experience in the field of animal husbandry and veterinary medicine. Strong scientific research resources and international vision form high complementarity with the advantages of Jinan animal husbandry industry in technology application, market resources, hands-on training and other fields, especially in the field of joint talent training and cross-border talent exchange and training, and the space for cooperation between the two sides is very broad.

Li Yanqin said that the Jinan Animal Husbandry Association has always been committed to promoting the technological innovation and international cooperation of the animal husbandry industry, and this research is a concrete measure to implement the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor （CPEC） version 2.0 agricultural cooperation deployment。 The scientific research accumulation and personnel training experience of UVAS in the field of animal husbandry and veterinary medicine are highly complementary to the technical needs and market resources of Jinan animal husbandry industry, and the cooperation prospects are promising.
