I Spent 24 Minutes With Claude Code, and It Completely Changed How I See AI & Consulting

Let me be real with you: I didn’t plan for this to turn into a big “aha” moment. This all started as a simple experiment, me getting familiar with Claude Code But what happened in less than half an hour honestly shook my understanding of how much work we think requires armies of consultants, millions of dollars, and months of effort.

Here’s the story.

Falling Down the Claude Code Rabbit Hole

I’ve been curious about Claude Code and AI-driven development for a while. Like, really curious. So I finally decided to stop circling the idea and actually jump in. I found a YouTube video by Nick Saraev, a Claude Code full video course that’s about four hours long. I haven’t even finished it yet. At the time of this experiment, I was just 24 minutes in.

Twenty-four minutes.

I downloaded VS Code, installed the Antigravity, enabled the Claude Code AI chat window, and even subscribed to the Claude Code Pro version. Yeah, it wasn’t cheap, but I was serious about going all in. I wanted to immerse myself in this world of AI and see what it could really do beyond the hype.

What I didn’t expect was for those 24 minutes to outperform over a year of professional consulting work.

The Consulting Backstory (This Part Matters)

Before I get into what Claude Code did, you need some context.

In a previous consulting role, I worked on a state government data center migration project in North America. Massive doesn’t even begin to describe it. We’re talking:

• Over 7,000 physical servers and virtual machines
• Complex dependencies
• Communication logs extracted over less than a week — over 3GB data size CSV file
• Millions upon millions of data points

Just one week of server communication generated mind-blowing amounts of data. And over the course of more than a year, multiple consulting companies were brought in to figure out a migration plan.

Do you know how much money was spent?

Over $5 million.

What did we get in return?

• Slide decks
• Fancy Power BI visuals
• Lots of talking
• Zero usable migration wave plan

Off course, the environment was “too complex,” so I wont blame the expensive consultants.

Enter Claude Code (And Things Get Wild)

So, with all that in mind, I decided to test Claude Code using real data from that project. I pointed the Antigravity IDE directly to the massive CSV file containing server-to-server communication patterns.

First thing I did was very deliberately. I asked Claude Code to explain what file it was looking at. It made some assumptions, and I corrected a few acronyms and clarified that this was data-center-related, not financial data. Once aligned, things took off fast.

I then asked a simple but powerful question:

“Can you identify trends, potential issues, and recommendations in this file?”

And that’s when my jaw hit the floor.

Minutes vs. Millions

Claude Code jumped into action — analyzing, prompting, processing. In less than two minutes, it surfaced the exact same issues that teams of consultants had been struggling with for over a year.

Same problems. Same blockers. Same risks.

But here’s the difference:

• No meetings
• No slide decks
• No delays
• Just results

At that moment, it hit me: this wasn’t just impressive, it was disruptive.

Claude Code Processing

Cleaning the Data Like a Pro

I pushed it further.

I told Claude Code: “Some of these issues are within your control. You’ve identified duplicates and out-of-scope items, why don’t you fix those?”

And it did.

Immediately.

Out of ten recommendations, Claude Code automatically resolved two by cleaning the data — removing duplicates, excluding irrelevant servers, and refining the dataset. No human intervention needed.

Now I have a clean, optimized dataset, something that traditionally takes hours or possibly weeks of manual effort.

The Moment That Changed Everything

Then came the big question.

I asked Claude Code to create a migration wave plan based on complexity. I didn’t give it rules. I didn’t define the framework. I just said:

“Figure it out. Move the least complex workloads first and the most complex ones last.”

What came back was unreal.

Claude Code produced:

• A multi-wave migration plan (up to Wave 7)
• Clear categorization by complexity
• Identification of standalone servers, low-dependency workloads, and high-risk systems
• Exclusion of irrelevant servers like VDI endpoints and printers
• A downloadable CSV output showing:
• Server names
• Wave assignments
• Complexity scores
• Dependency counts
• Cross-site relationships

This was the thing millions of dollars couldn’t buy.

And Claude Code did it in five minutes.

Let That Sink In

Two consulting firms. One year. Five million dollars.

No migration wave plan.

One person. 24 minutes of learning. Five minutes of execution.

A complete, data-backed migration plan.

That’s not just efficiency, that’s a paradigm shift.

The Bigger Lesson: The World Has Changed

This experience left me with one unavoidable conclusion:

The problem is no longer access to expertise. The problem is asking the right questions.

AI tools like Claude Code don’t replace human thinking, they amplify it. Creativity, clarity, and the ability to frame problems properly are now the most valuable skills you can have.

Time has changed. Work has changed. Consulting has changed.

And honestly? If you’re not paying attention to this shift, you’re already behind.

Final Thoughts

I’m still only 24 minutes into a four-hour course. That’s the wildest part.

If this is what’s possible in under half an hour, imagine what happens when people truly learn how to work with AI instead of fearing it.

This wasn’t just a cool experiment, it was a wake-up call.

And trust me: this is only the beginning.
