Why We Just Built Peer-to-Peer Payments Into Every Business on Garage

I want to talk about what we shipped this week, because honestly, it’s one of the most consequential things we’ve built so far — and it’s a feature a lot of you have been asking for.
We just rolled out Peer-to-Peer Payments on Garage. On the surface, it sounds simple: users can now send money to each other inside the platform. But what we’ve actually done is something much bigger than that. We’ve built the financial plumbing that turns every single business on Garage into its own mini payment ecosystem.
Let me explain how it works, and more importantly, why we built it this way.
The Two-Wallet System
Every user on Garage now has two wallets, and the distinction between them is important.
The first is your Affiliate Wallet. This is universal. It follows you across every office and every business you’re a part of on the platform. If you switch from one office to another, your Affiliate Wallet balance stays exactly the same. Whatever you’ve earned in commissions across any business on Garage lives here. It’s your portable income hub.
The second is your Store Wallet — and this is where things get interesting. Every business you join on Garage automatically gives you a unique Store Wallet for that specific office. So if you’re part of five different businesses, you have five different Store Wallets, each tied to that specific business.
Why does that matter? Because the Store Wallet is the bridge between the founder of a business and the members of their office. It’s a private, programmable channel that lets money flow inside that business in ways the traditional payments stack just doesn’t support.
What This Means for Founders
If you’re a founder on Garage, this is where I want you to pay attention, because we’ve just handed you tools that previously required expensive third-party software — or simply didn’t exist.
You can now send store credit directly to any member of your office. Want to give someone a $50 credit because they referred a customer? Done. Want to thank a top performer? Send it instantly.
You can refund as store credit instead of cash. This is huge. Instead of dealing with chargebacks, processing fees, and refund delays, you keep the value inside your business ecosystem. Your customer is happy, you avoid the friction, and the money stays in your economy.
You can run promotions, giveaways, cashbacks, and discounts without building any custom infrastructure. You just send the funds, and the recipient can spend them on anything in your office.
And this is laying the groundwork for something even bigger — payroll. I’ve already got my own employees on Garage. Soon, every founder will be able to pay their team directly from the money they’re earning on the platform, in multiple currencies, without going through traditional banks. We’re not there yet, but this release is the foundation.
What This Means for Everyone Else
If you’re not a founder, this still changes things significantly for you.
You can send money to anyone in your office, instantly and with no fees. Think Venmo, but built into the business you’re already part of.
You can convert your commissions into store credit and gift them to a friend. Let’s say you’ve earned $650 in commissions in one business. You can convert that into your Store Wallet and send it to a friend who can use it to pay for membership in another business on the platform. That use case literally did not exist before this week.
And as more businesses launch on Garage, the same dollar you earned can move fluidly between offices, creating a real in-platform economy.
Why We Built It This Way
Here’s the thing — most platforms treat “send money between users” as a single feature. For us, it’s infrastructure. It’s the connective tissue. With native crypto payments, multi-currency invoicing, peer-to-peer transfers, and the crypto Visa card partnership that we’re finalizing right now, what you’re watching unfold is the birth of a serious Stripe competitor. A serious Venmo competitor. A serious Razorpay competitor.
The next generation of payment infrastructure isn’t going to come from a fintech giant. It’s going to come from a business platform that built it because its users needed it.
We’re just getting started.
