Dynamite — Wednesday — 30/07/25

Dynamite opens with a rundown of what’s to come throughout the show. Most notably, the AEW World Championship is on the line between Champion Hangman Adam Page vs Jon Moxley. We get a nicely done promo detailing this feud.

Tag Team Eliminator Match — The Outrunners vs The Young Bucks

No entrance for the Ex EVPs; no nameplates shown in the ring. A mix of styles in this match as The Outrunners display a nod to 80’s style wrestling against the high flying modern style of The Young Bucks.

The Young Bucks take control early on with a double kip and pose to a chorus of boos from the Chicago crowd tonight. Truth Magnum came into the light to get the crowd going, but The Young Bucks quickly took back control. The Young Bucks are showing more aggression and look to prove a point against this crowd and against The Outrunners. Truth Magnum gets a double clothesline on The Bucks, but he can’t make a tag to his partner. The Bucks are doing everything to keep Turbo Floyd out of the ring. More damage is dealt to Truth Magnum. Turbo Floyd is in, and it is scoop slams for The Bucks. Great back and forth here with Tag Team chain wrestling. Near falls galore here, the crowd are on the edge of their seats. “This is Awesome” chants echo, and the Bucks get the win with a TK Driver.

A Great match that didn’t make The Outrunners look bad. Okada comes out to assist The Young Bucks in beating down The Outrunners. Enter Swerve Strickland, he makes his way down to the ring. Okada is left alone and defenceless in the ring. The Bucks and Okada are sprawled out on the ramp. The crowd is sounding great tonight.

Winner — The Young Bucks — Match Rating 3.5/5

Backstage with Mark Briscoe, who is quickly interrupted by Ricochet and Gates of Agony. They have a match tonight, and it will be interesting to see who will come out on top.

Still backstage, and we are now with MJF and Shelton Benjamin. MVP isn’t at the show tonight because he is disgusted with MJF. Things are frosty with the Hurt Syndicate and MJF. MJF is ousted from the group!

In the ring now with Tony Schiavone, we have Christian Cage coming to the ring. Tony recaps what happened at All In when The Patriarchy turned on Christian. “My Name is Christian Cage, and I am an asshole” was met with apt chants from the crowd. Christian says he became obsessed with becoming a World Champion. Christian says that he and Cope are so different, but also the same. Christian says Nick Wayne needs to get past him to be the New Face of TNT. Christian says that he disowns the Patriarchy. Christian is attacked on the ramp by Kip and Nick, and they hit Christian with a brutal double chair shot.

Backstage again, now with FTR, Big Stoke says Adam Copeland is banned from the arena tonight. FTR will face the Bang Bang Gang on Collision. The Young Bucks come out to confront FTR and hope to see them in the finals.

AEW World Championship Match — Hangman Adam Page [c] vs Jon Moxley

Crazy to think this is only the second match of the night. We are just coming up to the hour mark of the show. It still feels great to see the belt again. It was held at ransom by Jon Moxley for 9 months, locked in a briefcase. Can the rematch top Hangman and Mox’s match at All In?

Both combatants trade heavy shots in the centre of the ring. 50/50 start to this match, Hangman and Mox getting big moves on each other. Big fallaway slam by Hangman, which leaves Mox on the ring apron. Big splash on Mox on the outside of the ring. On the outside, Mox hits a piledriver on the steps to Hangman. Hangman beats the 10 count but heads straight into a cutter. Mox has taken control with an STF. Mox has Hangman on the top rope and rakes and bites the back of Hangman. Mox is getting frustrated now as Hangman looks to get back into this match. But Hangman reverses and hits a dead eye on the announce desk. Big clothesline back in the ring and a near fall. Great tombstone piledriver spot for Hangman on Mox. The tide seems to be turning back in Hangman’s favour. But Moxley takes advantage of Hangman, who was taking too long. Bulldog choke on Hangman by Mox. Mox fights out of a Crossface. Piledriver now on the apron, Hangman then is dragged in and another Piledriver in the centre of the ring, but Hangman kicks out somehow. The crowd now rallies behind Hangman. Big Moonsault from Hangman on Mox. A buckshot was reversed, and Hangman eventually hit a dead eye on Mox, but in the chaos, the ref got knocked down. Out come the Death Riders. Mox was given the championship by Marina Shafir and hit Hangman. Hangman kicks out to a thunderous roar from the crowd. Death Riders are escorted out of the arena, but not before Darby Allin jumps from the balcony, taking everyone out. Hangman hits the Buckshot on Mox and a Dead Eye. Another Buckshot and Hangman retains! A great match with great pacing and spots. It will be interesting to see what the fallout is now after Mox failed to win back the AEW World Championship.

Women’s Tag Team Match — Alex Windsor & Toni Storm vs Billie Starkz & Athena

It’s going to be hard to top the Hangman vs Mox match. Sometimes I wonder why AEW places their clear Main Event halfway through the show. Sometimes it does work, but it can also make the second half of the show suffer. Good early teamwork from Windsor and Storm. Athena is doing everything in her power to stay out of the reach of Storm. Now Billie and Athena have taken control on the outside and in the ring. Dirty tactics are being deployed by Billie and Athena. Windsor needs to get a tag to Storm. Lots of back and forth, and a great spot as Windsor had a cover on Athena Starkz broke it up with a Senton. Toni Storm is in the ring and she is beating down Billie Starkz. Athena just pinned Toni Storm for the win. A good tag match, but it did have a few spots repeated from The Outrunners vs The Young Bucks.

Backstage, we have MJF and Hangman going back and forth. Hangman tells MJF that he will need to beat Mark Briscoe to get his shot at the AEW WORLD Championship.

Backstage with Willow, who has a match against Thekla on Collision. Willow says that she is going to win using whatever it takes.

Ricochet vs Mark Briscoe

The crowd is amped for this match, and we start off fast in the ring. Big right hand to Ricochet, who was sent to the outside. Out walk the G.O.A. They get on the apron to cause a distraction for Mark Briscoe. We bizarrely have Ricochet breakdancing in the middle of the ring as he controls this match against Briscoe. More high-octane action as this match is going back and forth in both competitors’ favour. Briscoe hits the chair assisted senton over the ropes to the outside. Outside interference from G.O.A is giving Ricochet the edge until Brady King and Bandido show up to even the odds. Great back and forth again. Briscoe gets the upper hand and hits a J-Drilla for the win.

Briscoe grabs a mic and calls out MJF. He says he needs help and is worried about what he will do to MJF. MJF music hits, but no MJF until he shows up on the screen to insult Briscoe’s intelligence. He says he needs to prove a point to beat Briscoe for Hangman Page. Now back in the ring, MJF low blows Briscoe and attacks him. Hangman’s music hits, and the World Champ is on his way to the ring. MJF, like a snake, slithers out of the ring and runs up the ramp. The crowd shouts “coward” towards MJF, and that is the end of Dynamite.

Winner — Mark Briscoe — Match Rating 2.5/5

MATCH OF THE NIGHT — Hangman Adam Page vs Jon Moxley. This match had the crowd in the palm of its hand. You could believe the match could go either way. Darby Allin jumping from the balcony was a great spot, and the crowd loved it.

PROMO OF THE NIGHT — Christian Cage hands down a great promo to elevate the feud between Christian and Nick Wayne.

Low Point — hard to pick from this very good episode, having Mark Briscoe Vs Ricochet as the main event took away from the obvious main event, which was Hangman Adam Page vs Jon Moxley

High Point — Darby Allin’s surprise dive from the balcony was great. The crowd popped huge for this spot.

FINAL THOUGHTS -

A great show that was fast-paced and progressed storylines along nicely. Great in-ring actions and good transitions to backstage segments made for great viewing. The crowd helped because they were great and interactive. Very good show, and I am looking forward to Collision [80/100]
