《A Beginner’s Guide to Mutations in Grow a Garden 2》

Mutations are one of the most exciting — and most misunderstood — parts of Grow a Garden 2. They can turn an ordinary harvest into a fortune. Here’s how they actually work.
What mutations do
A mutation is a multiplier applied to a crop’s entire sell value. It doesn’t add a flat bonus; it multiplies everything — including the value you’ve already built up through weight. That’s why a heavy crop with a strong mutation is so much more valuable than either factor alone.
The current multipliers
Based on community testing, the live mutation multipliers are:
- Gold ×10
- Frozen ×14
- Electric ×25
- Rainbow ×30
- Aurora ×40
- Starstruck ×50
- Bloodlit ×60
Bloodlit is currently the top tier at ×60. There are also some upcoming mutations the community has spotted that aren’t live yet, so the list will keep growing.
How you get them
Mutations come from weather events. When a particular weather event rolls, crops that are out and ripe can pick up the matching mutation. This is why timing matters so much: you want valuable crops grown and ready before a high-multiplier event hits, not after.
One mutation at a time (for now)
In Grow a Garden 2, the current community understanding is that a crop carries one weather mutation at a time — a new one replaces the old. This is still being confirmed as players test more, but it’s the working assumption, and it changes strategy: you generally want to hold out for a high-value mutation rather than settling for the first one that lands.
Practical strategy
- Grow crops heavy first (weight is the bigger multiplier base).
- Keep an eye on weather events and what they trigger.
- Have your best crops ripe and ready when a high-multiplier event is active.
- Sell while fresh, ideally with friends in the server for the +10%-each bonus.
If you want a full reference of every mutation, its multiplier and the weather that triggers it, I keep an updated table here: GardenDev mutations guide. As always, these are community estimates — verify in-game for high-stakes trades.
