IMINT Challenge: Discovering Information Through an Image

Would you like to learn how to identify a person and find their digital traces through an image?
If Google Images doesn’t give you results, don’t worry. In this post, I will show you how we can find features and identify someone using OSINT techniques, specifying exclusively in Image Intelligence (IMINT).
The Image Challenge
Months ago, I issued a **challenge to my OSINT community on our [Telegram channel](https://t.me/OsintManuelBot59) to find information from a simple [image](https://telegra.ph/file/6623e15c8611ece8cd45c.jpg)**. This event, part of an open source intelligence workshop, was a challenge for everyone interested in OSINT, both in Spanish and English. Those who managed to solve the challenge received access to various courses on my training platform.

Image to be identified
The goal was to identify a person from an image, a challenge many analysts face when a Google Images search yields no results. Often, the first step is to search all available search engines, but this can lead to frustration if no information is found.
Critical Thinking and Analysis
As analysts, we should not rely solely on tools. Critical thinking and logical reasoning are essential for optimal results. When analyzing an image, it is important to identify key features. For example, in our image, we may notice that the person has two moles and is wearing a jacket.
Beyond that, by thinking like an intelligence analyst, we can consider that the image is a face. Google offers tools to search for faces in social networks, which can be a great help. However, many of these tools are in English, so it is important to know how to use them effectively.
Using Face Search Tools
One of the useful tools is **Search 4 Face, which searches for faces not only in social networks, but also in databases of millions of people. This tool allows you to search for images that are stored from the period of 2021, when many started using TikTok during the pandemic.**
When uploading an image to this tool, it is important to be aware that we are sharing personal information. If you do not wish to share a photograph, it is best not to use this procedure. Remember, no tool is completely free; if it is, you are the product.
Image Comparison
If we do not achieve results with one tool, it is useful to try different browsers or alternative tools. For example, , **Mxface and [Face Comparison](https://facecomparison.toolpie.com/)** are platforms that allow you to compare two photographs to determine the similarity between the faces.
These tools can indicate a degree of similarity with high accuracy, which is invaluable when trying to confirm a person’s identity from an image.
Advanced Research with Telegram Bots
Once we have a possible name or phone number associated with the image, we can use Telegram bots to get more information. For example, **TrueCaller Z Bot** can help us verify if a phone number is linked to a specific name.
These types of tools are useful for confirming data and advancing the investigation, allowing us to triangulate information effectively.
Conclusions and Reflections
The process of identifying a person from an image can be complex, but with the right tools and an analytical approach, it is possible to obtain results. This type of research requires patience and creativity, but the results can be surprising.

I hope this blog has provided you with valuable insight on how to approach an OSINT challenge with practical tools and techniques — see you in the next article!
Additional note:
With the aim of making our trainings more dynamic and based on real situations, this same OSINT challenge, we had shared with our students in a face-to-face manner, thus allowing them to put into practice everything they have learned during these almost two months of intense training and various workshops.
These workshops have been carried out in collaboration with multiple institutions, including our beloved police institution. For me, it is a real pleasure to share this learning path with you and to contribute to the formation of future analysts and investigators, focused on the practice and real application of their knowledge.

Based on what you have learned in this BLOG, WILL YOU BE ABLE TO SOLVE THIS OTHER OSINT CASE?
