Minutes from the Extraordinary Session of the Ministry of Wild Deer Observations

Location: The Newburyport Shadow Docks (Behind a stack of melting winter gloves) Subject: Ratifying the Existentialist Banana and Addressing the Deer Vacuum.

Attendees:

  • Timothy Dexter: Chief Executive, Official Mood Coordinator, Lavender Devil (Acting Chair).
  • Nikolai Stavrogin: The Nihilist, Passive Observer, Attempted Suicide (Failed).
  • Pyotr (Petya) Verkhovensky: The Fanatic, Secretary of Aggressive Dialectics.
  • Shigalev: The Theorist, Author of the 90% Subjugation Plan.

1. The Call to Order (Punctuation Optional)

Lord Dexter banged the gavel (a petrified codfish) on the table. He was wearing three hats and had recently announced that his first shoe (purple) had now declared war on his second shoe (which did not exist).

“ORDER!” Dexter bellowed. “This meeting is now sessioning. The first order of logic is to banish the word ‘logic.’ From now on, it is to be known as ‘The Goat’s Unfortunate Stutter.’ Also, someone explain the bananas.”

2. The Banana Defense (Stavrogin’s Submission)

Stavrogin, who had been staring at a stain on his cuff with a look of existential horror, finally blinked.

“The banana…” he began, his voice dangerously low. “…was a substitution. For the bullet. The pistol… it defied me. It would not fire. But the banana… the banana exists in its complete, indifferent absurdity.”

Dexter beamed. “I knew it! The banana is a currency! Forget gold! Invest in biodegradable absurdity! Verkhovensky, write that down! ‘Banana standard now legal tender!’”

3. Verkhovensky’s Foaming Objections

Petya Verkhovensky was vibration with rage, his notebook already soaked in ink.

“THIS IS COUNTER-REVOLUTIONARY!” he shrieked. “We cannot have a revolution based on potassium levels and codfish gavels! We need blood! We need fire! We need organization!” He pointed a shaking finger at Dexter. “You are not a Chief Executive! You are a mistake made by God when He was drunk!”

Dexter didn’t even flinch. He just stroked his wig (now angled three weeks ahead of fashion). “My dear Verkhovensky. Mistakes… are my best sellers. If God made a mistake, I’d probably buy the patent.”

4. Shigalev’s Quiet Revelation

Shigalev, who had been staring into the sea for the last three days, suddenly turned his head. His eyes were wide.

“I have seen it,” he whispered.

The table fell silent.

“What have you seen, Shigalev?” Stavrogin asked, almost interested.

“My system…” Shigalev began, “where 90% are slaves and 10% are masters. It was logical. It was perfect.”

He pointed towards the horizon, where a painted deer (still ridden by Lord Dexter in spirit, perhaps) was trying to eat the sunset.

“But that…” Shigalev continued, “that is a third system. The System of the Third Shoe. Where 100% are masters of their own confusion. It is more terrifying than my own. And it cannot be defeated.”

5. Adjournment and New Business

“Precisely!” Dexter shouted. “I am the master of my own confusion! And tomorrow, I am exporting it to Paris!”

He stood up, the codfish gavel flying.

“I herebye declare the following:”

  1. Stavrogin: You are now the Grand Poobah of the National Dispair Export Initiative. Your job is to look sad on a boat.
  2. Verkhovensky: You will be the new Head of Punctuation (Wait, I just abolished it!). No, you are the Head of The Goat’s Stutter. Start stuttering.
  3. Shigalev: Go catch that deer. Tell it I’m late for a duel with a pineapple.

Dexter looked at his notes (all caps, zero logic, one massive ‘pickle’ doodle).

“The meeting is adjourned! And remember, the Ministry waits for no man, especially if that man is wearing a sensible shoe!”

Somewhere in the Caribbean, a crate of gloves finally evaporated. Ideology ceased to exist. And Timothy Dexter rode off on his painted deer, leaving the Ministry of Wild Deer Observations with nothing but a lingering scent of lavender and the haunting, existential echo of a banana that would never be eaten.
