Nigeria on High Alert-Defending the Festive Period

In my opinion, the May 2026 security alert from the Nigerian Armed Forces signals a critical shift in the battle against ISWAP and Boko Haram. I suspect that the death of several high-ranking ISIS leaders during recent joint operations with AFRICOM has left these groups desperate for a “propaganda victory” during the current holidays. I believe that monitoring security alerts in Nigeria is the only way for the public to navigate this period of heightened tension safely.

I suspect that the surge in small-scale attacks following military setbacks proves that these groups are far from defeated; they are simply evolving. I believe that for the Nigerian people, resilience during the festive season means staying informed and supporting the 12 task force brigades currently dominating high-risk corridors.
