Portfolio Redesign project
the reconstruction and customization of my portfolio..
Project Overview
In response to evolving trends and user expectations, I undertook a comprehensive redesign of my portfolio to enhance its effectiveness in showcasing my work and capabilities! My redesign focused on improving the user experience, visual appeal, accessibility, while maintaining my brand identity objectives.
The Challenge
Redesigning a portfolio presents several challenges, each requiring intense consideration and strategic planning so that my portfolio can match and align with my brand’s identity. The design challenges that I was faced with were defining my goals, maintaining the brands consistency, prioritizing the content, and making the user experience friendly and easy to navigate. Navigating these challenges required a very unique approach involving feedback from multiple designers, content creators, even classmates and professors to ensure that the redesign of my portfolio meets both my functional and strategic objectives!
The Solution
Creating this portfolio involved a meticulous process that encompasses various stages, from initial planning to final execution. Below I provided an outline of my method and process for designing and developing my portfolio, addressing specific challenges while developing my portfolio.
- Defining my Objectives:
Challenge: The first challenge was to define the goals and objectives of the portfolio. I wanted to showcase my diverse range of skills and projects while appealing to potential clients and employers.
Solution: I performed a detailed self-assessment so that I could recognize my strengths, featured projects, and my target audience. I even went a step further by highlighting my expertise in graphic design, videography, and photography.

2.Content Organization and Prioritization:
Challenge: Organizing and prioritizing content was very important to exemplify a seamless user experience yet effectively showcasing my work.
Solution: I created a list for my portfolio where I categorized my content by type (i.e. graphic design, videography, and photography). I even went a step further by dividing them into subcategories to determine what went on each page (i.e. portfolio and featured projects). I prioritized key projects that showed my diverse skill set while still aligning closely with my target audience interest.

3.User Experience:
Challenge: Designing for the most enjoyable user experience across various devices while ensuring accessibility for all users wasn’t much of a challenge.
Solution: When creating and designing for multiple devices you have to think of different aspect ratios and you have to be mindful of the different size images and videos. But luckily squarespace has a feature that allows you to view the mobile site as you build your portfolio. Which was a huge help so as I moved along with my portfolio I switched back and forth between devices so that everything would be user friendly!

4.Creativity with Functionality:
Challenge: Balancing creativity with functionality was crucial to creating a portfolio that looked visually appealing but also informative and showed my true authentic self.
Solution: I added some creative design elements, such as moving banners across the screen, bold word footers, this is to engage the viewer and make the portfolio memorable. I did prioritize the functionality and usability, ensuring that the design elements enhanced rather than subtract from the user experience. I had a well thought out and easy to use navigation menu, and concise project descriptions to help guide users through my portfolio seamlessly!
