Something Interesting About Something; Some Summary Thoughts, Just Before Summer

A meta article about meta articles; well meta, stranger!

Seriously, or at least moderately so, I find it fascinating that some of my most read articles are in publications that have very few followers. That does say something about Something, but I’m not sure quite what.

If I did know what it meant, I would be writing something quite different, trumpeting my genius and telling everyone how to Make Money Fast™, which is the goal of everybody on Something.

Unless, of course, their goal is something else.

Be all that as it may or may not be, perchance to dream, items I wrote for publications a twentieth the size of other publications that I’ve put items into, have done best. This might bring up a whole new strategy to deal with the algorithms.

If you have a publication, stay small. As soon as you get more than a couple of dozen followers, close up shop and start something new. I strongly suggest this for a couple of publications that I muted early on in my stay on Something. I remember one of their editors huffing off in a pique as he could no longer either Make Money Fast™ or write about doing so.

Sadly, I see he’s back. This has forced me to mute another bunch of bright-eyed entrepreneurs who seek to write seventeen articles a day and retire to the Riviera. Or Brighton. I’m not sure which.

Be all that as it may, if my goal in life had been riches, I would have had a very different life. At this point, riches don’t make much sense. I can’t take it with me, and I’m certainly not going to leave it around for relatives who haven’t had the good sense to ingratiate themselves with me. If they had, I might try to make a pile. One that I don’t need to flush twice.

Okay, back to the point of this article, assuming it had one; I find the algorithms of Something are something else. Assuming that they are what is responsible for the reads in my tiny articles that were published in obscure publications.

It may not be so. I have always considered the universe to be infinitely perverse, and random chance to be something that gets me rolling snake-eyes half the time and boxcars the other half. There could be no reason whatsoever for this anomaly. It just is.

That’s about it. I asked to be a writer on All About Something, so I figured I had better actually write something or other about Something, and send it in.

Whether or not it gets published… well, that’s entirely something else.
