XINC Waterproofing:Popularize waterproof knowledge, understand waterproofing in three minutes.
Waterproofing is equivalent to buying an insurance for your home. Without any accidents, the money invested seems to be wasted, but once a malfunction occurs, waterproofing can reduce a lot of losses and troubles.
I. What is waterproofing?
The essential function of waterproofing is temporary drainage rather than long-term water storage, avoiding losses and maintenance troubles caused by unexpected water leaks from the roof and walls downstairs.
The role of waterproofing is that when water leakage accidents (such as burst water pipes) occur, it can allow these waters to smoothly drain into the sewers.

II. Where does waterproofing need to be done?
Bathrooms, kitchens, and balconies.
Luxury homes may also have fish ponds, spray pools, swimming pools, ceiling plants, and rooftops.
Most commercial buildings have cast floors, and possible water infiltration points are located at the boundaries of the floor, walls, or sewage pipes.
It is recommended to apply R-angle waterproof ridges in these areas when painting waterproof coatings to reinforce them.
III. Should kitchens and balconies be waterproofed?
Open balconies and kitchens should be waterproofed, while closed balconies may not need it.
IV. How high should waterproofing be painted?
It mainly depends on the water splash height.
Shower area: 180cm or to the top.
Sink: 150cm (30cm above the sink)
Balcony and kitchen: 30cm (some people prefer to paint the back of the cabinet in the vegetable-washing area up to 150cm, but usually the cabinet countertop has a water-resistant design).

V. How to waterproof?
Generally 2 to 3 times, with the requirement that the application directions of the two layers should be perpendicular to each other. The interval between the two layers should be more than 5 hours (if the weather humidity is high, it needs to be appropriately extended, with the standard of a dry and non-sticky surface).
Same-floor drainage vs. cross-floor drainage:
Bathrooms with same-floor drainage (sinking/subsidence) require secondary drainage at the sinking area to prevent water infiltration into the downstairs caused by water accumulation in the sinking area.
Cross-floor drainage makes it easier to conduct a water tightness test. After applying the waterproof coating, close the drainage outlet, set up a water retaining slope at the door, and start the water storage test.

VI. Secondary drainage:
Secondary drainage is only applicable to same-floor drainage, dealing with unexpected situations such as water pipe ruptures, draining accumulated water in the sinking area.
Ensure that there is a 3% drainage slope at the bottom of the sinking area, with the lowest slope flowing towards the secondary drainage pipe.
If a secondary drainage outlet is not reserved, a hole can be drilled in the main drainage pipe (note not to drill it too large), insert a pipe, add a steel mesh (to prevent blockage by ceramic particles or other backfill materials), and then apply waterproofing.
VII. How long does the water tightness test need to be?
Most people do it for 48 hours, but it is recommended to do it for more than 72 hours (3 days) (especially for upstairs neighbors), with specific reference to the property requirements.
VIII. Dosage of waterproofing materials:
For paint-type waterproofing, after mixing the two components, the painting area per square meter is approximately 1.2 to 2KG. Add 2% to 3% for wastage, with specific reference to the brand’s construction instructions.
IX. How to waterproof underfloor heating?
First, install the water, electricity, and underfloor heating systems alternately. After leveling with cement and sand, apply waterproofing, which is basically the same as the non-underfloor heating method.
X. Waterproof paint vs. waterproof membrane:
Waterproof paint, also known as polymer cement waterproof paint, is standardly divided into flexible and rigid mortar. Flexible mortar is conducive to water drainage, while rigid mortar is conducive to preventing water infiltration from the back surface.
