Why Consistency is More Powerful Than Talent (My Real Story)
The Girl Who Once Loved Studying:
When I was younger, studying felt easy for me. I genuinely loved learning, answering questions in class, and spending time with books. I was one of those students’ teachers appreciated a lot, and most of the time, I stood among the toppers. At that age, I thought hard work always gives perfect results. I believed life would continue the same way forever.
But slowly, things started changing.
As classes became harder, I noticed something painful. Even though I was still studying a lot and trying my best, my marks were no longer matching my effort. I slowly became an average student, and honestly, that phase hurt me deeply.
Because the hardest feeling is not failure.
The hardest feeling is trying your best and still feeling “not enough.”
I used to wonder what was wrong with me. Why were others moving ahead while I stayed stuck despite working so hard?

When I Tried to Fight Back:
Then came 9th and 10th grade.
I pushed myself again with full dedication. I studied for hours, stayed focused, and gave everything I had. And slowly, I found my way back. I became one of the top students again, and for the first time in a long while, I felt proud of myself.
It felt like maybe I had finally proved myself.
But life had another chapter waiting for me.
Becoming “Average” Again:
In 11th and 12th grade, the same cycle repeated.
I was studying a lot. I was working hard. I was sacrificing my comfort, my time, and sometimes even my peace. But once again, my results didn’t reflect my effort the way I expected.
And this time, it affected my confidence more than my marks.
There were moments when I silently compared myself with others. Some students studied less but scored better, and honestly, that comparison used to break me internally.
“Sometimes people only see results. They don’t see the late nights, the pressure, and the silent struggles behind them.”
I started doubting myself. Maybe I wasn’t talented anymore. Maybe I was never enough in the first place.
But despite all those thoughts, I still kept going.
Entering a Completely Different World:
Then university life started, and everything changed again.
I entered a field (Bioinformatics) related to computers and technology — something completely new for me. I didn’t have a strong background in it, and honestly, many things felt difficult to understand. While others seemed naturally comfortable with coding and technical concepts, I often felt left behind.
There were days when I felt completely lost.
Days when I questioned whether I truly belonged there.
But I never stopped trying.
Some days were really productive. Some days I couldn’t study at all. Sometimes I felt motivated, hopeful, and strong. Other times I felt mentally exhausted and confused about my future.
Still, no matter how messy life became, I continued.
Maybe not perfectly. Maybe not confidently. But enough to not quit.
What Consistency Actually Looks Like:
People often think consistency means being perfect every single day.
But real consistency is much more human than that.
It is:
- studying when you feel mentally tired,
- trying again after disappointing results,
- continuing even when you feel behind,
- and showing up for your dreams while secretly doubting yourself.
“Consistency is not always loud. Sometimes it quietly survives difficult days.”
And I think that’s what truly changed me.
Not talent. Not motivation. Not perfect routines.
Just the habit of getting back up again and again.
The Biggest Lesson I Learned:
Today, when I look back at my journey, I realize something important:
Talent may help someone start fast. But consistency is what helps people survive difficult phases.
There were many moments in my life when talent alone wasn’t enough. There were times when my confidence disappeared, my results disappointed me, and nothing seemed to go the way I wanted.
But consistency stayed.
Quietly. Slowly. Patiently.
Even when I couldn’t see growth happening, I was still growing.
For Anyone Who Feels “Average”:
If you are someone who studies hard but still feels unseen… If you feel tired of trying… If you feel like your effort is not giving results…
I want you to know something:
Your journey is still valid, even if it doesn’t look perfect.
Success is not always a straight line. Sometimes it looks messy. Sometimes it looks slow. Sometimes it feels unfair.
But that does not mean you are failing. Because growth is not only about becoming successful. Sometimes growth is simply refusing to give up on yourself.
The Real Strength:
Today, I may not always be the “topper” version of myself anymore, but I have become someone stronger than before.
Someone who knows how to continue even during difficult phases. Someone who understands failure, pressure, self-doubt, and still keeps moving forward.
And honestly, I think that matters more. Because at the end of the day;
“The strongest people are not always the most talented ones. They are the ones who continue, even when life becomes difficult.”
And maybe that’s the real power of consistency.
Not being perfect. Just refusing to stop.
