Aerial Intuition: How come we fly?

On my way to work or to the market hub of the metropolis, the only international airport in my country lies just beside a major road. Every time an airplane flies, it just baffles me how on earth is a whole village just floating in a mechanical mansion, not just floating but some guy is actually controlling it from inside. Just another day in my reverie spiral in traffic, until one day.

I have always been aware of the gravitas of this fairly common phenomenon of 21st century. However, the curiosity bug bit hard when I threw a broken grain of rice (not even a grain but broken in half) in my kitchen one morning. It straight nose-dived to the ground. I agree, nothing wonderful here. But how come something so small, actually even small would be an exaggeration for something so tiny as half a rice grain, dashed to ground the next moment I released it. But an amalgamation of mechanical gears, machinery coupled with a large population just flying through the air, and get this: It’s developed by us, humans. Furthermore, I have not even begun about space flights.

So, I am starting a series on Aerial Intuition: How come we fly? This will be like a documentation for the work I am starting, a mere attempt at abating the flames of curiosity.
