ZWEMART RUINS BAIL APPLICATION FOR BACEDE, MTHANDENI
Zweli Martin “Zwemart” Dlamini continues to be a loose cannon for all the stakeholders involved in the politics of Eswatini. The Swaziland News editor has recently meddled in the case against the MP’s Mthandeni Dube and Bacede Mabuza.

Zweli Martin “Zwemart” Dlamini
Zwemart continues to publish unverified, accusatory, defamatory, and purely scandalous articles on his online newspaper — and this has not helped the pro-multiparty democracy MP’s in their terrorism case against the state.
The two MP’s were incacerated for inciting violent looting and destruction of property which led to loss of life in the Kingdom of Eswatini. They were applying for bail in their case which is still being deliberated by the High Court.
When one applies for bail, it is helps to have a very clear story of where you stand in terms of what you have been accused of. Zwemart recently published an article which gives credence to the fact that the two MP’s were indeed involved in terrorism. This worked against the two MP’s in their bail applications to the High Court.
The article Zwemart published was essentially claiming that the two MP’s co-accused Mduduzi “Gawuzela” Simelane is the primary controller of the funding for the terrorist group Swaziland International Solidarity Fund. The problem with Zwemart publishing this article is that he is essentially tying the two incacerated MP’s with someone he himself claims to be funding terrorism.
How should they be granted bail if their co-accused who is hiding in South Africa is being reported to be funding the same activity they are in jail for? How could any judge grant bail under those circumstances?
Zwemart’s constant disregard for legal proceedings in the Kingdom of Eswatini shows that he does not care because he is outside the country. The proof of this is that he does show a respect of the law when reporting on cases which are in his country of residence, South Africa. A most recent example of this is when he reported that “The name of the suspect cannot be revealed for now pending his court appearance.” He said this in article about how a member of PUDEMO has been arrested in connection with the member of Hillary Gardee, the daughter of EFF’s Head of International Relations in South Africa.
Zwemart respects the legal proceedings of cases in South Africa where he lives, and completely disregards those of Eswatini — primarily because scandalising anything about Eswatini is how Zwemart makes a living.
In reporting on the case of the two MP’s, Zwemart once again showed that he only enjoys scandals, even if they are not proven. He is an “investigative journalist” who never reveals “important evidence” — he only claims to have it.
In the most recent coverage of the MP’s trial, Zwemart says that this about the presiding judge Annadale, “we have all the information suggesting that he doesn’t even qualify to be a Supreme Court Judge”. However, he does not reveal this information — why not?
This yellow journalism (a style of newspaper reporting that emphasized sensationalism over facts) was even called out by the High Court.

The High Court calling out Zwemart’s scandalous, non-factual coverage of the MPs’ case.
It remains to be seen how Zwemart’s incessant need to be involved in anything that could be turned into a scandal will impact the pro-democracy MPs’ trial going forward. The current coverage has already been deemed foul, and Zwemart continues to link the two MP’s to terrorism by implicating their co-accused, Gawuzela, as the primary funder of a terrorist group.
