The Heartwarming Exchange of Giving and Receiving Help

This morning, I was using my laptop while my spouse sat across from me on a chair. He was busy with his own stuff, and I was watching some short videos on YouTube for work.

This One particular video made me emotional, and I watched it twice. I looked at my spouse, he looked back and I was with teary eyes and a sad expression, taking a few deep breaths.

Surprisingly, when I looked back to my screen my spouse said,

“Tell me what you need.”

I was shocked and asked him how he knew I got emotional because of those simple words. He replied just like that.

That can be a fluke, but then I explain why those words touched me.

I said that last week, I had a lot of things to do, and I stretched myself a little more than I should. I could feel those whose.

I wished I could express the need for help . It’s challenging to vocalize these feelings.

It’s not that I can’t handle multiple things on my own, but sometimes it’s comforting to have someone offer a helping hand even when you don’t realize you need it.

You know, just a few things taken off of your plate.

I hope you have someone in your life who says these words to you.

And if not, let’s strive to be that person for others, extending kindness and compassion by saying those simple yet powerful words, “Tell me what you need.” Ashuni Shah
