And how you can force that identity shift.

If you ask people when they became an entrepreneur, they’ll usually point to a piece of paper: the day they registered their LLC, or the day they quit their 9-to-5.
For me, it wasn’t either of those. It was a random Tuesday at 10 a.m.
I was sitting with my laptop, looking at an email from a potential client who wanted me to take on a project completely outside my normal scope.
My immediate instinct was to forward it to a boss to ask, “Are we allowed to do this?”
I sat there for a minute, waiting for someone to give me permission. I looked around my empty living room. Nobody was going to tell me what to do. I had to decide the pricing, the timeline, and the deliverables all by myself.
So, my hands shaking slightly, I typed out the proposal, named my price, and hit send.
That single decision changed my identity more than any business card ever could.
Entrepreneurship isn’t a legal status; it’s the moment you realize the buck stops with you, and you’re okay with that.
Here is how you force that identity shift:
Step 1: Make one decision today that your old boss used to make.
It could be setting a boundary on your working hours, raising your rates, or firing a toxic client. Flex the muscle of autonomy.
Step 2: Price it, promise it, deliver it.
Don’t hide behind “industry standards.” Decide what your time is worth, look the client in the virtual eye, and state your terms.
Step 3: Repeat until you trust yourself.
The imposter syndrome never fully goes away, but eventually, you build a mountain of evidence that you actually know what you’re doing. You learn to trust yourself more than you trust a steady paycheck.
Remember:
Entrepreneurship isn’t a title you earn. It’s a question you stop asking.
You don’t need to quit your job today. You just need to act like someone who already has the authority to make the call.
And if you want to see exactly how I use email as my primary channel to turn content into sales, I created a simple and solid system that breaks down my entire process.
