A Longevity Test for People Over 50.

The Sit to Rise Test (SRT) is a longevity indicator developed by Brazilian physician, Dr. Claudio Gil Araujo MD PhD. Dr. Araujo studied over 2,000 patients aged 51 to 80 who followed an exercise program at the Clinimex cardiac rehabilitation clinic in Rio De Janeiro. He found that how people performed the SRT determined their likelihood of dying.
How to perform the SRT:
-
Stand barefoot in comfortable clothes.
-
Without any support, cross your ankles and lower yourself to the cross-legged, sitting position on the floor.
-
Then stand up without using hands, elbows, knees or sides of legs.
-
Deduct one point every time that you make contact with the ground with hands or other body part.
-
A perfect score is 5.
