Gen Z

Loneliness is more and more present in our lives. We are more connected than ever and yet, we feel alone. More and more, we believe we’re alone in our fight against our brain. More and more, we suffer in silence, because no one offers us the help we so much need.

Our vision of ourselves is hurt a little more each day. We see muscular men on steroids, skinny women on Ozempic and we compare ourselves to them. We believe normality is looking like them. We believe perfection is them. We believe perfection comes with drugs.

The expectations of our loved ones, our teachers, the society are higher than ever. We expect youth to be perfect. A+ after A+. Beauty, Health and perfect and stable life at 20 years old. They fix us expectations out of reach. Pressure gets put on our shoulders and make us believe it is normal.

We accuse Generation Z to be lazy and liars. The truth is, for the first time, we’re not faking. We stop pretending we’re fine. We speak and we raise awareness. Cases of depression haven’t gone up because we are liars looking for attetion. No, they augmented because we started speaking about it. We’re called liars because we stopped getting influenced by the society. We stopped marrying at 14 and having kids at 18. We’re not slow or retarded. We acknowledge the problems that you didn’t dare report. We acknowledge and we defend the differences that you didn’t want to see and accept.

Yes, we aren’t perfect, but me, I am proud of being part of the Generation Z. I am proud to be able to say I have troubles. I am proud of being able to defend human human rights. I am proud to be able to speak up. I am proud of being able to change things. I have the right to go get help when things aren’t going well. I have the right to speak about eating disorders and depression. I have the right to say I’m a lesbian, trans, or bisexual. This generation is different. It’s pretty, it’s radiant, varied and so much more. Here’s why I’m proud. We remove the taboos that shouldn’t be. I am part of the Gen Z and I am proud of it, end of discussion.
