Bastet will make Magic for Her kittens

O Great Bastet, I am terribly afraid.

Everything around me is frightening: the noise of the road-howlers; the noise of silver birds in the sky; the noise of all the apecats shouting and growling. I often can’t sleep because everything scares me. It feels like my stomach is fighting me.

I used to have a nice box under a bench where I could sleep in the day and go and find burgers at night. Then horrible rough tom-apecats with stomping boots came along with a huge loud howling wheel-thing and took my box away and squashed it.

I want to come back to you in the Land Beside the River, O Mother of all Cats. I’ve had enough of noise and fear.

O sweetest Sad Kitten — would you trust Me to make a Magic for you, to take you into a tranquil place of safety with your own Personal Apecat? You have a strong body, you know: it’s just being frightened all the time that makes your life so hard. If you could be somewhere quiet, would that help?

It’s true you might be killed later by a road-howler you don’t see in time; you might get in fights with other cats, possibly even dogs. This will also count as one of your Nine Lives. You still have all yours, but Sad Kitten only has two left.

But you would be free and not imprisoned so high up. What do you think?
