I was watching an episode of Sex and the City the other day, curled up by my window in my cozy pajamas — and I had an epiphany. We’ve lost the art of fun. I was curiously watching Carrie, Samantha, Miranda & Charlotte do things that seemed incredibly abnormal to me but routine for them.
We don’t get coffee with friends before work anymore, we don’t go out for long lunches and smokes. We don’t plan to be at post-work bar for evening drinks with coworkers or friends. We rush home, to complete the million tasks we’ve set in our mind just to do it all over again tomorrow. We’ve lost the art of fun.
Most importantly, we don’t make bad decisions. We have this tendency nowadays to overdramaticize and blow things out of proportion, when life really is just not that serious. Kiss the boy, text your ex, go on a road trip, take the last minute trip, quit your job to pursue your hobby. Live a little. I think we all need a reminder of that sometimes.
