‘IF MY PERSONALITY WAS AN INTERIOR DESIGN’

The other day I had a vision of myself owning a place of my own; no ordinary place, but a place that would represent who I am. As I began to envision this space, luxury wasn’t the first thing that came to mind. What I envisioned was sunshine coming in from large windows, earthy walls, fresh breezes coming in from large empty spaces, and cozy corners rather than perfect corners.

As I continued to picture my perfect space, I realized that it had less to do with the house itself and everything to do with me. The further I went into imagining my perfect space, the more I was able to see that I wasn’t visualizing a particular style at all. In fact, my perfect style is Mediterranean.

I think about what kind of space I would be if I were a room. This space would be a place where you can go in and get lost because everything in it would feel like me. For me this space would not be a room with a lot of glass and minimal things. I like places. So if my personality were a room it would be a Mediterranean-style room.

My outlook on life is simple. I do not like to rush. I do not make things complicated. Life should be comfortable and beautiful, but not too fancy or expensive. That is why I think the way a room looks can tell us a lot about the person who lives there and what they are like.

When it comes to turning my feelings into materials and colors I would choose colors that’re natural and earthy like terracotta, beige, light green and soft blue. I do not like colors that’re too bright or too dull. I like colors that’re balanced.

The materials used in the style are beautiful because they have a unique feel and can change over time. The beauty of this style is not in the details. In the way it makes you feel. This is something that I really like.

Colors are not something you see for me. They can also make you feel emotions and moods. Bright colors can make you feel comfortable and happy while softer colors can make you feel calm and clear.
