In the heart of Persian artistry lies a profound language — woven in threads, symbols, and seasons. From the bustling bazaars of Tabriz to the timeless looms of Kerman, each Iranian rug tells a story of harmony, heritage, and the hands that shaped it. But what happens when those hands are replaced by code?

These three digital artworks — created through generative design in Processing — are a modern homage to Iranian rug-making, each woven not with wool, but with algorithms. Inspired by seasonal change, symmetry, and traditional Persian geometry, the visuals capture the spirit of ancient designs in a contemporary form.

Autumn Blaze

Layers of saffron, rust, and ochre blend into a symmetrical matrix that feels both industrial and organic. The lines pulse with a warmth reminiscent of Persian harvest festivals. Yet, behind this warmth lies a precision that only a generative algorithm can offer. The rug doesn’t tell a single story — it tells a pattern of stories, coded and repeated like whispered poetry.

Winter Ember

A bold contrast of deep purples and volcanic reds, this design evokes the fire at the center of a cold Iranian night. Inspired by winter solstice rituals like Yalda, the piece radiates from the center — where warmth is most vital. Fine blue lines resemble frost over bricks, while the fractal edges recall the unpredictability of snowfall over ancient stone walls.

Spring Breeze

Here, the form is gentler, breathing with the subtle movement of new growth. Aquamarines, olive greens, and soft yellows mirror the rebirth of the Iranian landscape in spring. The delicate network of lines seems to bud and sprawl, like vines reclaiming stone. You can almost hear the Nowruz flute in the breeze that carries across this coded field of renewal.

The Process Behind the Pattern

Each artwork was created using generative Processing code, where symmetry, noise fields, and curl-based motion were layered iteratively. The design process mirrors the steps of a traditional weaver: beginning with structure, introducing motif, and finally allowing rhythm and imperfection to create uniqueness.

These are not static visuals — they are simulated threads in digital space, each pixel an echo of looms long gone.
