A Sunny Spring Day

A short reflection about Zen and gratitude

As i’m sat here working from home, I look out of my bedroom window to be blessed with a glorious spring day. It’s one of those days where I can quite easily picture myself outside with a frothy cup of coffee — soaking in the suns rays without a care in the world.

But here I am inside with work to do, and surprisingly, that’s fine by me. The moment still fills my heart with unshakable gratitude — even just witnessing it from the boundaries of my bedroom.

Difficult life experiences have helped me to appreciate these spontaneous moments. Moments that continuously present themselves but often ignored. Life, in it’s whimsical ways has taught me how to be present with these moments without trying to change them — or wish them to be different.

Days such as this carry a very Zen quality to me. I suppose Zen is everywhere, but there is just something beautiful about the unspoilt sunshine as it bathes everything in it’s path. It makes the world a better place. Do you agree?
