I built an AI photo editor for people who hate complex software.

A couple of months ago, I just wanted to remove a photobomber from a vacation picture.

I opened the industry-standard photo editing software. It took a solid minute to load, demanded an update, and politely reminded me of my heavy monthly subscription fee.

Frustrated, I turned to the new wave of AI generative tools. They are incredibly powerful, but let’s be honest: they are not built for normal people. I don’t want to join a chaotic Discord server, and I definitely don’t have the patience to learn complex “prompt engineering” just to fix the lighting on a selfie.

I realized photo editing is still way too complicated for what 99% of us actually need to do. Most of us aren’t designing magazine covers. We just want to change the color of a shirt, remove a background, or turn a photo into a cool sketch.

So, as a developer, I decided to build the exact tool I wanted to use.

Enter AI Image Editor. (Yes, the name is terribly uncreative, but at least you know what it does).

The rule was simple: Zero learning curve.

The whole concept is based on “Text-to-Edit”. If you know how to type a text message, you know how to use this. I built in the features I actually find myself needing in real life:

• The Outfit Swapper: Upload a photo, type what you want to wear (e.g., “a vintage leather jacket”), and the AI changes your clothes seamlessly. I use this to test outfits before buying them online.
• Image to Sketch: Turns any photo into a pencil, watercolor, or charcoal sketch in seconds.
• One-Click Fixes: Background removal, image upscaling, and basic retouching — just by clicking a button. No layers, no lasso tools.

The elephant in the room: Yes, it’s a paid tool.

You have to create an account, and yes, it costs money to use.

I want to be completely transparent about why. Running high-quality AI models requires GPU power, and GPU servers are ridiculously expensive.

I’m an indie developer. I don’t have millions in venture capital to burn on offering “unlimited free generations” just to acquire users (and then aggressively hike the price later).

By charging a fair, straightforward price from day one, I can ensure a few things:

1. The servers stay fast and reliable.
2. I don’t need to serve you annoying ads.
3. Your photos stay private (I’m selling a useful tool, not your data).

It’s built to be a sustainable, honest tool that gets the job done without the bloated software overhead.
