Amid Disaster — Philadelphia Answers — Once Again.

When disaster strikes — PA Taskforce 1 answers. Responding and assisting in America’s disasters are exactly what it does. Stationed in Tacony — Pennsylvania Taskforce 1 is one of America’s urban search and rescue units on the Federal level. The Taskforce was established in 1989 — PA-TF1 has responded to such emergencies as Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Floyd, the attacks on the World Trade Center on 911, Hurricane Helene, Hurricane Gustav, Hurricane Rita, and Hurricane Ike, the Hurricane in Haiti in 2010 and Hurricane Sandy among others. During September 11th— they would assist with moving over 1.5 million pounds of wreckage.

Now PA-TF1 is heading to Kerrville Texas to assist with the search and rescue efforts after flash flooding and torrential rains flooded the Guadalope River during the early morning hours of July 4th — saturated Central Texas — killing at least 108 people with another 18 missing during the fifth day of the search and rescue. In Kerr County at least thirty children have been confirmed dead from Camp Mystic Summer Camp.
