The Wonder That Still Calls My Name

There are nights the soul grows tired of itself. Nights when silence becomes heavier than speech, when prayers no longer rise as confident declarations but fall from the lips like wounded birds searching for rest.

There are mornings a man wakes smiling before people while his heart quietly collapses within him. Moments when faith feels distant, when the noise of the world grows louder than the voice of God, and the soul begins to wonder whether Heaven still remembers its name.

Yet beyond the chaos of men, beyond the weariness hidden behind human laughter, beyond every failure, every secret wound, every restless wandering, there remains a love that does not retreat.

A love ancient as eternity yet tender enough to meet a broken heart in the dark.

Not the fragile affection men often offer one another, love that survives only in convenience, love that disappears when storms arrive, love that measures worth by usefulness and perfection.

No.

This is the love that saw humanity at its weakest and still stretched out wounded hands to embrace it.

This is the love that follows a man even when he deliberately walks away from grace. The love that waits patiently at the edge of rebellion, hoping for the sound of returning footsteps.

I have seen seasons where my soul felt like an abandoned house, windows broken by disappointment, walls weakened by fear, rooms filled with unanswered questions.

I have walked through valleys where hope itself seemed exhausted. Places where the future looked dim, where pain spoke louder than promises, where Heaven appeared frighteningly silent.

Still, somehow, mercy kept finding me.

Like sunlight breaking through stubborn clouds, His compassion kept entering the ruins of my heart. Not once. Not occasionally. But over and over again.

There were days I forgot Him in my pursuits. Days ambition became louder than devotion. Days I carried pride like a crown while slowly starving spiritually within.

Yet even then, Love did not abandon me to myself.

For every road I took away from Him, grace travelled farther to reach me.

When guilt sat heavily upon my chest like chains forged by my own failures, His forgiveness spoke peace over my restless soul.

When shame whispered that I was too flawed to be wanted by God, His mercy answered with scars in His hands.

And perhaps that is the greatest mystery of all, that the Creator of galaxies would concern Himself with fragile people made of dust.

That the One who hung stars in endless skies would still count human tears carefully.

That holiness itself would walk among sinners without disgust.

That eternal Love would choose sacrifice over abandonment.

What language can truly describe such wonder? What poem can fully carry the weight of grace? What human words are strong enough to explain why Heaven keeps loving failing men?

Even eternity may not be sufficient to unfold the depth of that mercy completely.

Still, one truth continues to burn quietly within me:

I am loved beyond my understanding.

Loved on days I feel strong. Loved on days I feel ashamed. Loved in moments of worship and loved in moments of weakness.

Not because I earned it. Not because I have always been faithful. Not because my hands are clean enough.

But because Love Himself chose to remain.

And when the strength of youth finally fades, when applause becomes meaningless dust, when the noise of this world grows faint around me, when earthly achievements lose their glitter before eternity,

one truth will still stand like an unshaken pillar within my soul:

That Heaven loved me long before I ever learned how to love Heaven back.

And if at the end of my journey one final song remains trembling upon my lips, it will not be about titles, possessions, or human praise.

It will simply be this eternal wonder:

That Jesus looked upon a weary soul like mine and loved me still.
