Linkedln CEO Daniel Shapero announced the laysoffs internally through a memo describing the move as a difficult decision but starting that the company needs to rethink how teams operate and where investment are directetd. The message from leadership was blunt and clear. Chief product officer Hard Srivivasan told employees that Linkedln wanst smaller, faster and more agil teams that can heavily leverage AI tools. According to him Linkedln faster moving teams are those with fewer managment layers and stronger AI integration and the company now wants every team to follow that model.
Linkedln has recently announced laysoffs. Reports from May 2026 say the company is cutting around 5% of its workforce which cloud affect roughly 875 empolyees globlly.

Another report mentioned that more than 600 employees were informed about permanent job cuts in a new round of laysoffs. The layoffs are part of restucturing and cost-cutting efforts happening across many tech companies right now , including companies investing heavily in AI and reorganizing teams. Linekldn’s parents company, Microsoft, is also making broader organization changes. Linkedln did not lay off empolyee only because of cost-cutting. There were several deeper business reasons behind the decision. Reports say that around 606 employees were affected in one round of laysoffs, While nearly 5% of linkeldn’s global workforce may be impacted overall.
Shift Toward AI and Automation
The tech industry is rapidly moving toward artificial intelligence. Linkedln is restucturing its teams to become faster, leaner, and more AI- focused. Linkdeln is directly aligned with that vision. Industrtry analysts say layoffs reflect a wider shift across silicon valley, where companies are reallocating spending towardAI infrastucture cloud computing and automation tools.
Some repititive tasks can now be automated. Companies want smaller teams with highder efficiency. Workers with AI-related skill are becoming more valuable. However, Linkedln officially stated that the laysoffs were not simply AI replacing humans. Instead the company said it wanted to redirect resources toward future growth areas.

Internal Restucturing
Linkedln is reorganizing many departments
marketing teams were reduced
engineering and product division were rshaped
Operational and vendor costs were cut
According to reports, company leadership toldemployees that Linkldn needed to focus on its highest priorities and invest move heavily in infrastucture and future technologies.
The larger Tech Industry Slowdown
Linkedln is only the company making laysoff. Many major Tech companies like Meta, Microsoft, and Amozon they also reduced staff in recent years. The reasons are
Economic uncertainty
Massive spending on AI infrastructure
Slower hirring growth
Pressure to increase efficiency.
One surprising fact is that Linkedln was not losing money. Microsoft reported strong revenue growth for Linkedln estimatedaround 12%. So why because these companies only focus on their profit they only genrate money due to long term laibility, AI competion also. Revenue at Linkedln actually grew 12% in the last qurater, The company clarified that the layoff rationale was not AI replacing jobs. Its about reorganizing teams and foucsing on areas where the business is growing. Over the past 18 months Linkedln has consistently reduced its headcount as it restructuresto stay learner and more AI integrated. This is the latest wave in a longer pattern. Linkedln 5% of staff gone.
Meta began company wide laysoffs cutting approximately 8,000 employees, around 10% of its workforce
Amazon confirmed cutting 16,000 corpoarte roles, the largest workforce contraction in its history.
Oracle cut roughly 30,000 positions, about 18% of its global workforce. More than 100,000 tech workers have been displaced in the wave alone.
Engineering teams were among the hardest hit, with roles cut in product development, backend operations, and systems architecture . Linkedln’s own recruitment department also suffered major reductions the people whose job it was to help others find work are nowsearching for their own. The past 18 months Linkedln has consistently reduced its headcount as it restructures to stay learner and more AI-intergerated. This is just the latest wave in no lomger pattern. This message is clear no company is immune not even the one built around professtional networking and hiring. If you’re in tech now i s the time to upskill build your network and never get too comfortable. The job market is shifting. But time to time may human labour may zero all the tech will shift on AI. There are adventages or disadvantages there. This is bad for human beigns because the need o human beign shift to AI system. Human beigns face alot of hardles due to the advancetechnology. There are more benifits for comapnies, Microsoft , Meta, and other application again benifit because less human worker are the reason of AI and companies never pay high amount to the human.
