The real reason your score isn’t moving has less to do with effort than you think, and the fix is simpler than another prep book.

If you’ve taken the SAT more than once and your math score keeps landing somewhere in the 580 to 640 range no matter how much you study, the problem is almost certainly not that you don’t understand the material. The problem is that you understand it just barely enough to recognize it on the page, but not deeply enough to retrieve it under pressure with a clock running.
This is the most common pattern in students who are otherwise strong. They sit down for a section, encounter a problem involving the discriminant or a 30–60–90 triangle, and freeze for thirty seconds while they try to reconstruct the formula from memory. The SAT recycles roughly thirty problem structures across every test, and once you can recognize which structure a question belongs to within seconds, the question stops feeling difficult and starts feeling familiar. A “no solution” system of equations is asking you to compare ratios of coefficients. Two successive percent changes are testing whether you multiply factors instead of adding percentages. A circle equation in general form is asking you to complete the square. The same thirty traps wearing different clothes. Confidence changes next. Once you’ve seen the same compact reference hundreds of times, every formula carries a visual familiarity that makes the test feel like a continuation of your studying rather than a new event.
