Your 2025 Photo Summary

The Picture This annual January challenge

I’m one of the first people to coax the current year into the past, feel an urge for what’s next, imagine what’s to come.

And yet I am reflective. I appreciate what’s happened, and especially with 2025 — I’m amazed at what our body and spirits can endure.

I thought I was prepared…

And here we are, still standing, on the brink of 2026.

My challenge to you, dear photography family, is to reflect on each month of 2025 with a photograph.

Where have you been?

What have you done?

What have you seen?

I’d love to read and lay eyes on the photographic proof.

If you’ve been hanging around Picture This for a while, you may remember Barb Dalton giving us the idea of one photo for each month of 2023.

Others followed suit, we made it an official challenge, and this is our third year running the challenge. I’m not sure what I enjoy more — reflecting on my year or reading what ya’ll have been up to.

In 12 photos, summarize your 2025. Select one photo taken within each month of the year — January through December. Try to use pictures you have not yet published on Medium.

• Follow the general Submission Guidelines
• Share your story by 1/29 and we’ll include it in our end-of-month roundup.

We had 20 submissions in January of 2024. I’m setting the goal of 21 submissions! Many of us have been writing far less than usual in 2025, I hope this tradition can bring us together again.
