Too Young To Be This Tired

There is this kind of tiredness that does not make sense for our age.

It does not come from running too much or sleeping too little. It does not disappear after a good night’s rest. It lingers. It sits quietly in the background of our days, showing up in a way we sigh a little too often in a way we pause before starting something simple, in a way simple tasks feel heavier than they should.

And that strongest part about it is that we started to normalize it.

We say “I’m tired” so casually that it does not even sound like a concern anymore. it has become a reflex, a default response we say before thinking twice. But beneath that simple sentence, there is something deeper for which we do not have words to describe.

But this tiredness is not just physically.

It is emotional. It is mental. It is constant.

We grow up in a world that moves faster than what we can process. There is always something to do, somewhere to improve, something to always achieve. Even at a young age, life feels like a list of expectations waiting to be fulfilled. Grades, careers, achievements- all of just starts super early before we even know what it means.

Somewhere along the way, we internalize ideas we heard a little too much.

“all is well” “the movie is not done yet”

And maybe they are to comfort us. Maybe they try to remind us that things will eventually work out. But when you are in the middle of everything , when the pressure feels constant, those lines do not always feel real. They feel distant — like something meant for a version of life that is calmer than this one.

So we start carrying more than what we can realize.

Expectations- from parents, from teachers, from ourselves. Comparison — constantly measuring where we stand against others. Uncertainty — about the future, about who we are becoming, about whether we are enough.

It builds slowly.

Not in dramatic ways, but in quiet everyday moments. In late nights you spent trying to keep up. In overthinking conversations which should have been simple. In the pressure to always keep improving, always move forward, always becoming something more.

Over time, it becomes super exhausting.

From the outside everything feels fine. You are functioning. You are showing up. You are doing what is expected of you. There is no visible reason why you feel this way.

So you tell yourself it is not a big deal.

You push through it. You ignore it. You call it just “being tired”.

But it stays.

Sometimes, you hear another line- “Kabhi kabhi jeetne ke liye kuch haarna padta hai…” (translation:- sometimes to win something you need to lose something)

But no one tells you how it feels when you are slowly giving up pieces of yourself away just to keep yourself alive. No one tells you that sometimes, you are not even sure what you are losing anymore- energy, clarity, or parts of who you used to be.

And maybe that is what makes tiredness heavier- the fact that its carried out silently.

Being tired at a young age does not mean something is wrong with you.

It means you are trying. Trying to meet expectations. Trying to figure out a future that feels uncertain.

It means you are living in a time where so much is demanded of you, often before you are ready.

And maybe the problem is not that we are too young to handle it.

Maybe the problem is that we were never meant to carry this much, this early.

There is nothing wrong with ambition, with wanting to grow, with wanting to build something meaningful. But when growth turns into constant pressure, when becoming turns into never feeling enough, it stops being fulfilling and starts becoming draining.

We forget that rest is something we do not need to earn.

We forget it is okay to pause without falling behind.

We forget that we are allowed to exist without constantly improving ourselves.

And maybe that is something we need to learn again.

Not how to do more.

But how to breathe in between.

Because life is not meant to feel like a race you started too early and can not stop running.

You are not behind. You are not failing.

You are just tired.

And maybe instead of pushing that away, we start listening to it.

Not as a weakness.

But as a signal.

A quiet reminder that even at this age, we deserve rest, gentleness, and a life that does not feel so heavy to carry every single day.
