Arrived early but…!? The “Commoner’s Trap” I Fell Into at Dallas Airport Lounge 😅 But was it actually lucky?! 🍀**

✈️ Early Bird Panic at DFW Airport

I had visited Finland, the land of the Moomins, 6 years ago. This time, I wondered if I would love it even more. With that hope in my heart, I headed to Dallas Airport.

Since I was flying business class, I planned to use the lounge and enjoy a luxurious time — so I checked out of the hotel and arrived 4 hours before my flight. But little did I know, this plan would turn into a classic “commoner’s trap”… 😓

Dallas Airport doesn’t have permanent check-in counters for each airline — they only appear right before the check-in time. So no matter how early you arrive, the check-in counters are still closed.

On top of that, the security line was unbelievably long that day. “Oh no, if this keeps up, I won’t even make it to the lounge in time!” I was panicking inside.

By the way, my breakfast that day was a lucky find — a banana at the hotel in Dallas! 🍌 The hotel breakfast was a sugar overload, so I only had a banana and milk coffee, planning to feast at the lounge later. But that plan almost failed! 😢

Finally, the counters opened 3 hours before the flight. After that, things went smoother — I checked in and passed security, arriving at the lounge with 2.5 hours to spare.

🥂 Lounge Roulette: Capital One or AA Lounge?

At the lounge reception, I was told: “You can choose either the Capital One lounge or the American Airlines lounge.”

I peeked at the Capital One lounge — it looked crowded, so I chose the American Airlines lounge instead. And that turned out to be a jackpot!! 🎉

🍽️ A Hidden Gem: AA Flagship Lounge

The moment I entered the lounge, my mood instantly lifted. Soft lighting, elegant interior, and most importantly, an amazing selection of food and drinks! 🍽️🍷

There were salads, soups, and a delicious salmon cream stew. Also, a spicy Indian-style curry. Even the alkaline mineral water was top-notch!

And the wine? Served by a dedicated staff member! 🍷 You just say “This one, please,” and she pours it with a smile. Not self-service — that little extra touch made it feel so special and classy.

Later, I ran into a gentleman in the elevator who told me: “The Capital One lounge is good, but the American Airlines lounge is definitely a higher level.” That explained everything — the food and atmosphere were flawless.

By the way, the Capital One lounge is apparently a shared lounge for people with certain credit cards or who pay a fee (details unknown). So it’s not exactly open to everyone — I understood that later.

🛫 Into the Skies: Finnair Business Class

And finally, boarding the Finnair business class! ✈️

I was welcomed by a calm, older flight attendant. She was just perfect — polite but with the right distance, truly Nordic quality service.

The Finnair cabin isn’t shiny but has an elegant, quiet design. The glasses and dishes were simple but extremely refined. I couldn’t help but smile thinking, “I love this vibe.”

Even the nuts served were thoughtfully delicious. Though I was full, I took a bite and thought, “Wow, this is so tasty…” — so frustrating! 😅

Meals kept coming nonstop, but I was already stuffed from the lounge, so I couldn’t eat everything. That was sad. Because I knew everything was delicious, but just couldn’t fit more in!

🌤️ A Surprisingly Smooth Flight

Another thing I loved was the flight’s stability. I really dislike turbulence, but this flight was surprisingly smooth. Maybe the plane was new or the weather was calm — either way, it was super comfortable.

I truly want to fly this airline again someday.
