Week 8: From Peppers to Pancakes

Monday. Jacob and I worked with Rhei for the first half of the day. Then I went back to take pictures with Niel for the story he’s working on. After that Jacob and I went to talk with Daniel, Bryan, and Annie about their lab work. Annie was working on a really interesting Entomology project that I ended up helping with. Later I visited Ashli and Melody. They were working with Tomato Breeding which happens to be on the same floor as Pepper Breeding. They brought me to the green house where they had experiments simulating urban farming conditions to test for flood resistance. Later that night, we went to a sushi spot on the top floor of the Focus Mall in Tainan that Derek had recommended. It was a conveyor belt sushi place that had a gacha game for every 5 plates we ate. In total we hit 22 plates but only won one reward. After that we played basketball, ice hockey, and bowling at the arcade on the floor under. Finally, we walked to NCKU campus for some ice desert.

Tuesday. I spent the morning working on some packing. Then some time with entomology working with Annie’s project. I got some good videos for my day in the life post later that day. That night was our second to last real night at WorldVeg, so we went to Mitsui Outlet in Tianan to buy some gifts. Then a train that was supposed to be headed back at 7:35 PM but had been delayed over 200 minutes.

Wednesday. Jacob and I took the day off to prepare to leave on Thursday bright and early. In that time we went into town one last time for some more gift shopping and thanking our favorite scallion pancake (cong you bing) vendor. Lunch was with Hank from pepper breeding at a beef noodle shop and subsequent boba. Next for me was gift giving. I thanked everyone for giving me such a good time at WorldVeg. That night we took some more pictures with the help of Amy and played pool for one last time.
