Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Launched MAN 1 Yogyakarta International Class: Encourage Madrasahs to Develop Three Classes at Once

The Coordinating Minister for Human Empowerment and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. HC. Drs. H. Muhaimin Iskandar, M.Si, officially launched the MAN 1 Yogyakarta International Class in a special event held at the Auditorium of Yogyakarta State University (UNY), Thursday (17/4). This moment coincided with the Release of Class XII Students and Studium Generale, which was also attended by the Head of the DIY Ministry of Religious Affairs Regional Office, Dr. H. Ahmad Bahiej, SH, M.Hum.

The launch of this international class is an important milestone in MAN 1 Yogyakarta’s efforts to expand the scope of global quality education services. In his remarks, the Head of MAN 1 Yogyakarta Drs. Wiranto Prasetyahadi, M.Pd emphasized that the opening of the international class is a form of the madrasah’s commitment to preparing students who excel academically, have a global perspective, but still uphold Islamic and national values.

“As a commitment to continue to progress, this year we are opening the International Class pilot. This program is a form of our commitment to equip students to be able to compete at the international level without abandoning Islamic and Indonesian values,” said Wiranto.

Coordinating Minister for PM, Muhaimin Iskandar, welcomed this initiative positively and called it a strategic step that must be accelerated. He emphasized that opening just one international class is not enough to answer the great potential of MAN 1 Yogyakarta students.

“The demand for international classes cannot be denied and must be implemented as soon as possible. At least three international classes need to be opened in the future. Because from here we are not only pursuing knowledge, but also maintaining the values ​​and ethics that are the foundation of the nation’s life,” said this MAN 1 Yogyakarta alumnus.

The man who is familiarly called Cak Imin hopes that MAN 1 Yogyakarta graduates can continue their studies at the 25 best campuses in the world. Not only that, he also asked the Head of MAN 1 Yogyakarta to gather MAN 1 Yogyakarta alumni to advance MAN 1 Yogyakarta.

This International Class Program will be implemented in stages, starting from the preparation of facilities and infrastructure such as classrooms, adaptive curriculum development, and improving the competence of teaching human resources. This step shows the seriousness of MAN 1 Yogyakarta in responding to the challenges of 21st-century education and establishing its position as a superior madrasah that is ready to produce graduates with strong character and global competitiveness.
