UAE Stands With Libya, Offers Strong Humanitarian Aid For Derna Floods

UAE landmarks lit up in the colors of the Libyan flag to display solidarity for Libya after the deadly floods that killed at least 8,000 people. Burj Khalifa in Dubai and Adnoc’s headquarters in the capital Abu Dhabi delivered messages of support to Libya.

The United Arab Emirates, as ordered by the UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, has sent two aid planes carrying 150 tonnes of urgent food, relief, and medical supplies to Benina Airport in Libya.

The UAE’s response is part of its air bridge to provide urgent relief aid to those in need and those affected by floods in Libya.

The UAE is also one of the first countries to send aid and rescue teams to Morocco following the deadly tremors. In a written statement on Sunday, Morocco’s interior ministry said the country had accepted offers of assistance from the Emirates and three others.
