Jet Blast Bash Volunteer Experience

This past weekend (8/1), I had the incredible opportunity to volunteer at the Washington Aerospace Club’s booth at the Jet Blast Bash event at the Museum of Flight to celebrate SeaFair and the Blue Angels!

Our booth was a “Make-It-and-Take-It Rocket” station, where over the course of the two-day event, around 600 kids came through to build their very own Estes Trailblazer rockets. While I was only able to volunteer for one of the two days, it was such a blast getting to pass on my rocketry experience — walking each kid through the build, answering their questions, and watching their faces light up the moment their rocket came together. I got to meet kids (and their families) from all over — from California to Australia — all bonding over the same excitement of building something that will eventually fly up into the air.

There were hundreds of rockets made and countless proud “I built this!” moments, and I’m so glad I got to help them out. I’m already looking forward to next year!
