DR Who Wants to Be Alive in 26 Days: Refuting the Feeling
Just because the desire to die cannot be argued away does not mean that suicide is acceptable.
Even if no one else can make that feeling disappear, I still believe that suicide should not be the answer.
What concerns me, however, is the belief – or perhaps just my perception – that people think they can prevent suicide by winning an argument.
The idea that you can stop someone from taking their own life simply by disproving their reasons for wanting to die strikes me as meaningless.
To me, it is little more than self-satisfaction.
Human emotions are full of contradictions.
They are not built solely on logic, as though they were mathematics.
If someone truly wants to die, I don’t think another person can simply erase that feeling.
If it could be erased that easily, it would probably be a lie, self-deception, or something like a drug.
On the other hand, I do believe that time can be part of the solution.
That’s why I think that even waiting for just one more day has meaning.
No one has actually tried to argue me out of these feelings.
Perhaps this is simply my reaction against the “enemy” that exists inside my own mind.
Still, I don’t believe that the desire to die can be resolved so easily.
At the same time, I also don’t believe that this means dying is the right choice.
