Launch in Korea, Expand Across Asia: How Wadiz Is Building a Cross-Border Crowdfunding Gateway

A joint session with Japan’s Makuake showed how global technology brands can test demand in Korea and build a path toward wider expansion across Asia.

For global technology brands, entering Asia is not simply about choosing a country. The more important question is where to test demand first — and how to turn early customer response into regional growth.

Wadiz believes Korea can be that starting point.

On June 26, Wadiz and Makuake, one of Japan’s leading crowdfunding platforms, held a joint session at Grand Hyatt Beijing for approximately 50 Chinese companies in AI, robotics, smart hardware, and other technology sectors.

The session introduced a practical cross-border market-entry model:

Launch in Korea and Japan, validate demand through crowdfunding, and use those results to expand across Asia.

It also marked a step forward in Wadiz’s effort to connect Asia’s crowdfunding markets, with Korea serving as a testbed for global innovation.

Why Korea Is a Strategic Test Market

Korea is a compact but highly responsive consumer market.

Korean customers are quick to discover new technology, sensitive to emerging trends, and active in sharing product feedback. For global brands, this creates an opportunity to test product-market fit, pricing, positioning, and customer response before making a larger investment.

A successful launch in Korea can help brands:

  • validate real customer demand
  • refine their product and market strategy
  • build early brand awareness
  • create evidence for local distributors and partners

During the Beijing session, Martin Mo Ziming, Head of Wadiz China, explained that Korea should not be viewed simply as another sales market. It can function as an early testbed for technology brands planning broader expansion across Asia.

The value of launching in Korea is not only whether a product sells. It is whether a brand can learn from real customers and use those insights to prepare for its next market.

Crowdfunding as a Market-Entry Model

Crowdfunding is often associated with fundraising, but for brands entering a new country, it can also serve as a go-to-market strategy.

Campaign results provide direct evidence of customer interest. They show which features attract attention, how customers respond to pricing, and whether a product has enough demand to support further growth.

Wadiz presented this process as a four-stage path:

Crowdfunding → Market Validation → Distribution → Long-Term Growth

Global technology brands have already used Wadiz as an early entry point into Korea.

UGREEN NAS reached 23,867% of its funding goal and exceeded KRW 1 billion within one hour of launching on Wadiz. Global smart projector brand XGIMI also introduced its Elfin Flip 4K to Korean consumers through the platform.

Roborock offers a longer-term example. The brand began with approximately USD 214,000 in crowdfunding in 2021 and later grew to USD 200 million in Korean revenue by 2025, securing more than 60% of the local market.

These cases show how crowdfunding can become more than a one-time product launch. It can help brands validate a market, establish early demand, and create a foundation for sustainable growth.

Connecting Korea and Japan Through Crowdfunding

The Beijing session followed discussions held at BEYOND EXPO 2026 in Macao one month earlier, where Asian crowdfunding platforms explored opportunities for closer cooperation.

In Beijing, those discussions moved toward execution.

Wadiz and Makuake shared the characteristics of the Korean and Japanese markets and showed makers how the two countries could form part of a connected launch strategy.

Rather than approaching each market in isolation, brands can test customer response in Korea and Japan, compare results, and use that evidence to shape their wider Asian expansion.

Wadiz is therefore doing more than helping global makers launch in Korea. It is working with regional platforms to build a more connected route across Asia.

In this model, Korea provides fast market feedback, crowdfunding demonstrates real customer demand, and platform partnerships open the door to additional markets.

Local Support for a Successful Korea Launch

Entering Korea requires more than a competitive product.

Global makers must also navigate certification, pricing, legal requirements, campaign operations, and local customer expectations.

At the Beijing session, Wadiz introduced its market-entry support system, including professional project director consulting, the AI-powered tool WAi, campaign support, and connections to local certification and legal partners.

One-on-one meetings were also held with companies actively considering a Korean launch. Discussions with AI robotics brand Ling.ai, for example, focused on product operations, pricing strategy, and KC certification.

These conversations reflected a common question among global makers:

Can a crowdfunding launch in Korea lead to meaningful market validation and further business growth?

Wadiz aims to make the answer clearer by combining customer access, campaign expertise, local support, and regional platform partnerships within one market-entry path.

Start in Korea, Expand Across Asia

The next generation of global technology brands may not enter Asia through one large-scale launch.

They may begin by testing a responsive market, learning from real customers, and using those results to move into the next country.

Wadiz is positioning Korea as the starting point for that journey.

By helping global makers launch in Korea, validate demand, access local expertise, and connect with crowdfunding partners across the region, Wadiz is building a cross-border gateway for Asian market expansion.

The joint session with Makuake showed what that model can look like in practice.

Start in Korea. Validate with real customers. Expand across Asia.

A more connected Asia crowdfunding network is taking shape — and Wadiz is helping lead the way.
