Following on from the previous article, which took a more cautious and pessimistic view of the UK’s relationship with cryptocurrency on Tuesday 3rd December 2025, marks what could be one of the biggest moves the UK has ever made towards crypto acceptance.

What just happened?!

The UK Parliament has officially passed a **Bill recognising cryptocurrencies and stablecoins as “property”, with approval from HRH King Charles. As reported by Cointelegraph**, this is groundbreaking news and signals that the UK now considers cryptocurrency a “tangible” asset after years of ambiguity and lack of recognition.

Interestingly, with this passing in Q4, it brings to mind the distinguished football commentator Martin Tyler’s iconic line: “It’s late, but it’s great!”

And honestly, it really is. An early christmas present for people of the UK, which wraps up this year’s explosive adoption of cryptocurrency and digital assets which is reaching wall street and the world beyond.

Excuse the football reference, those words take me back; he’s genuinely one of the greats of UK sports commentary.

So what does this exactly mean exactly?

Now that cryptocurrency is officially categorised as property under UK law, this provides “greater clarity and protection for consumers and investors”, as noted by Crypto UK on X.

This is particularly important given the frequent news stories and radio ads warning people about crypto scams, at a time when the space was largely unregulated and offered very little resolution for victims.

A bit of backstory: Crypto UK is the UK’s first crypto and blockchain industry trade association. They’ve been leading initiatives and advocating for digital assets since 2017, essentially acting as a bridge between the crypto sector and government bodies.

Ok so what’s next?

This is clearly a developing story. In the coming months, we can expect more details on the practicalities:

• And what this means for day-to-day users and businesses.

Overall, this could be the start of a snowball effect signalling that the UK, in particularly London is ready to reclaim its position as a global financial hub — this time with digital assets in mind. The topic of Real World Assets (RWA’s) will be particularly interesting to watch, as this current bill looks to place the UK to have a future framework in place to support this.
