The house of Hazrat Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) was next to the Prophet's Mosque and the eaves of his house faced the mosque. When it rained, the drops of rain from the eaves would fall on the people praying. Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) saw the drops of rain falling on the people praying, so he removed the eaves and threw them away. Hazrat Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) came! He saw that the old eaves of the house had been removed. He asked who removed it? It was answered: The Commander of the Faithful saw the drops falling on the people praying, so he removed it. Hazrat Abbas complained to the judge. The Commander of the Faithful Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) appeared in the court of Judge Ubayy Ibn Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) while the judge was hearing the people's cases. Hazrat Umar was waiting outside the court. After waiting for a long time, when he stood in front of the judge, he began his speech. Hazrat Ubayy ibn Ka’b said to him: “Stop! The plaintiff has the right to speak first.” He was the chief judge during the caliphate of Umar. Hazrat Abbas presented his claim and said: “My house’s nave was facing the Prophet’s Mosque from the beginning, and it was there even during the time of Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), but Umar removed the old nave of my house in my absence and without my permission, so I want justice.” Judge Ubayy ibn Ka’b (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: “Don’t worry, justice will definitely be done.” The judge asked Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), “Why did you remove the old nave of Hazrat Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him)?” The ruler of twenty-two hundred thousand square kilometers stood before the court and said: Hazrat Abbas’s nave was facing the Prophet’s Mosque. When it rains, the water from the nave falls on the worshippers and disturbs them, so I removed it.” Abu Ka'b saw what Abbas was going to say, so he said to him, "What do you want to say?" Abbas said, "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) himself marked the place where my house is, and I built a house there, and then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me, "Uncle, put your foot on my shoulder, get up and put your foot on this place." I refused to put my foot on his shoulder, but after his insistence, I put my foot on his shoulder and put my foot on this place." Ubayy ibn Ka'b said, "Do you have any witnesses to this?" Abbas hurried out and brought some of the Ansar. The Ansar confirmed Abbas's statement and said, "Abbas is telling the truth." Upon hearing this news, Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was overcome with emotion and tears flowed from his eyes like rain and a vision of the prophetic era appeared before him. He stood before his beloved Prophet. The ruler of twenty-two hundred thousand square miles stood before the court with his head bowed and weeping.. He whose name would have caused tremors in the courts of Caesar and Kisra! Hazrat Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: I did not know that this navel was the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) himself. Come with me and place your foot on my shoulder as you placed it on the shoulder of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and put the navel back in the same way. The people of Medina were standing in the presence of the judge when Hazrat Abbas, the Caliph of the time, Amir al-Mu'minin Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), stood on the wall in the same way and leaned both his hands on the wall. Hazrat Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) lifted his shoulder and put the navel back in the same place. The ruler of the time behaved in such a way that when Hazrat Abbas Walid dedicated his house to the Prophet's Mosque in that very place, even after fourteen hundred years, the marks of the navel are clearly visible on the wall on the left when entering the Bab al-Salam. Respected and esteemed brothers: This was the position of the Caliph and Amir al-Mu'minin of the Muslims, who did not have the right to remove a navel against the rights of a Muslim. He had and did not give himself the right, and the ruler of half the world and the greatest emperor of the time stood before the judge and cried because of the roof of a house. And then the subject stood on the emperor's shoulders and fulfilled his right.
