Rainy Evenings.
There is something about rainy evenings
Rainy Evenings.
There is something about rainy evenings
that makes the world feel smaller.
The streets shine under orange lights.
Cars move slower.
People disappear indoors carrying warmth with them.
And suddenly all that is left
is the sound of rain against windows,
the hum of distant traffic,
and every thought you had been avoiding all day.
Rainy evenings have a way of reopening old rooms in the mind.
People you have not spoke to in years return briefly.
Memories feel closer than they should.
Even the smallest things become emotional somehow.
A song.
A street corner.
The smell of wet pavement.
A message you almost sent.
The world outside becomes blurred and distant,
while your inner world grows louder.
Maybe that’s why loneliness feels different in the rain.
Less sharp.
Less embarrassing.
Almost romantic in it’s own quiet way.
The rain makes everything appear softer.
Buildings.
Voices.
Memories.
Even grief.
And for a moment,
with the sky darkening early
and the windows fogging slowly,
it feels acceptable to pause.
To miss people.
To reflect.
To sit inside old versions of yourself for a while.
Rainy evenings don’t ask you to be productive.
They don’t demand answers or improvement.
They simply sit beside you in silence
while the world outside dissolves into grey.
