Philosophy to Serve Man’s Greatest Capacity

Philosophy is seeing what is and the whole of what is simply as being. Not as what can be used in a practical sense. Not meant for advancing science and technology which Descartes emphasized to make men masters and owner of nature.

Philosophy is meant for man being man. To make man using his greatness which is to think universally— capax universi — thus philosophy’s subject is Being and beings — being qua being-. Though this is just my simplified and reduction matter.

In light of this, we could assume the difference of purpose of philosophy also difference in thinking about what man is. And how does philosophy serve its purpose. The modern way of thinking everything in ratio manner, quantifiable, materialistic as sole reality, maketh man only in its animal form and capacity. It erase man’s possibility to reach greater height in intellectus manner, his wisdom, his virtue.

Thus the concept of man as reflected in philosophy should be realized in teaching the core subject of philosophy, which is man’s capacity to think universally and distinguish it from labour’s work value, or, as modern people encapsulate, the progress of education by making its usefulness as the measure of the subject.
