The 7 Mistakes That Delay Most Brands From Going Live on Blinkit, Zepto & Quick Commerce in 2026

Over the past few years, I’ve worked with hundreds of brands trying to get onto India’s quick-commerce platforms — Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, BigBasket. The pattern is uncannily consistent: most brands don’t fail at selling on these platforms. They fail at getting onto them.

Here are the 7 mistakes that delay 80% of brands — and what to do instead.

1. Name mismatches across PAN, GST, and bank Sounds trivial. Isn’t. If your registered business name on PAN says “ABC Foods Pvt Ltd” and your bank says “ABC Foods” — your application gets rejected. Fix names character-by-character before applying.

2. Missing FSSAI (or expired one) Food, grocery, beverage sellers: FSSAI is non-negotiable. A pending or lapsed licence stops onboarding cold. Get it issued and current before you apply, not during.

3. Skipping multi-state APOB on GST This is the #1 silent killer. Blinkit/Zepto stock you in dark stores across states. Each warehouse state must be listed as an Additional Place of Business (APOB) on your GST. Miss this and you can’t legally sell there — no matter how perfect your catalog is.

4. Incomplete or non-compliant catalog Weak titles, low-resolution images, missing attributes. Each rejection costs days, sometimes weeks. Build the catalog to platform spec the first time.

5. Pricing without factoring full costs Brands look at commission (8–15%) and stop there. They forget fulfilment fees, storage, GST on platform fees, optional marketing — adding up to 25–30% of selling price all-in. Result: “successful” listings that lose money on every order.

6. Stocking out at launch Quick commerce punishes stock-outs hard. Lose visibility once and it’s painful to win back. Have inventory cover from day one.

7. Treating it as one-platform-at-a-time The brands actually winning aren’t on Blinkit “or” Zepto — they’re on Blinkit, Zepto, Instamart, BigBasket. Each captures slightly different buying behaviour. Pick one to start, but plan for all from day one.

The honest takeaway

Getting onto quick commerce isn’t a product problem or a marketing problem. It’s a documentation, compliance, and process problem. Brands that prepare upfront go live in weeks. Brands that figure it out mid-process lose months.

If you’re navigating Blinkit, Zepto, or Instamart onboarding — happy to answer specific questions in the comments. We’ve put together detailed guides for each platform at iardo.in/quick-commerce if it’s useful.
