Norway Excelling in Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics

The 2022 Winter Olympics were held in Beijing, China where athletes around the world competed in 22 different sports. This year, seven new sports have been added to the lineup including: Women’s Monobob, Men’s and Women’s Big Air (Freestyle Skiing), Mixed Team Snowboard Cross, Mixed Team Aerials, Mixed Team Short Track Relay, and Mixed Team Ski Jumping.

Despite the Winter Olympics being held in China, the top-performing countries continue to be Norway, Germany, and Austria. Norway excelled greatly this year with a total of 38 medals in the 2022 Winter Olympics. Norway gained their mot gold medals through Biathlon, a winter sport that combines cross country skiing and rifle shooting.

Johannes Thingnes Bø and Marte Olsbu Røiseland both represented Norway and excelled in Biathlon. Johannes Thingnes Bø currently ranks second for most successful Biathlon competitors. They are right behind, Ole Einar Bjørndalen, who also represents Norway.

Ole Einar Bjørndalen has a total of 13 medals in Biathlon and was able to win all gold in 2002 Winter Olympics. Norway has a long history of dominating the Biathlon events with 22 gold medals all-time totals.
