The Government of India has issued **DGFT Notification №20/2026–27 dated 02 June 2026, bringing important clarity on the applicability of Quality Control Orders (QCOs) and BIS Certification Requirements** for imports by SEZ Units and SEZ Developers.

What Has Changed?

Under the amended Para 2.03(A)(iii) of FTP 2023:

SEZ Units and SEZ Developers can import all permissible goods including:

• Raw Materials
• Components
• Consumables
• Spares
• Capital Goods

without the applicability of mandatory QCO/BIS requirements, provided such goods are used for authorized operations within the SEZ.

**Important Condition**

If imported goods, or products manufactured/processed from them, are later moved from the SEZ to the Domestic Tariff Area (DTA), they must comply with the applicable Quality Control Orders (QCOs), BIS standards, and other relevant regulations at the time of clearance.
