While some observers rushed to interpret the discussion as evidence that Peter Todd could be Satoshi, Back quickly dismissed that conclusion.
Instead, he pointed toward something arguably more fascinating: the possibility that Bitcoin was the inevitable result of decades of cryptographic research rather than the invention of a single individual.
